Ok fair enough. Only thing I'd say is this trade gives them the space to add another player or players that they may not have been able to acquire otherwise, and in the meantime you'd still have a 2nd goalie that could and should be a reliable 30-40 game guy.
CC if his contract extended beyond this yr, i may agree .... but it doesn't.

you can still admit that Bergevin is bad. Or did you really like the Therrien fiasco? Subban trade?

Lol, a fiasco? Therrien was able to develop and get a Norris season out of Subban. Later, Bergevin correctly identified that Mr. I'm-a-brand was becoming a headcase and sold high at the perfect time. We ended up with a much better player in Weber, while the Preds had to give Subban away.

Give me more fiascos like this, please!

What about Crawford for Kinkaid straight up?

Montreal gets the better goalie, and someone they should be able to trust more than Kinkaid in an attempt to save their season.

Chicago gets a capable backup and saves $4.25 M on the cap this year, freeing them up to make more moves this year.

I could see both of these guys re-signing with these teams to form new tandems. Price-Crawford, Lehner-Kinkaid.

Crawford is playing exceptionally well, so there is no reason to move him. He's light years ahead of Kinkaid, who has zero value. If Crawford will sign cheaply to be a back up, he'll do so with Chicago. He's really a 1B with Lehner's 1A these days anyway.

Doubt Montreal would pick up Crawford, I could see a possible Toews for Poehling, Mete, 2020 1st trade though.
Ooooooh boy :m-confused:. I think Chicago gives up a 1st rounder and 2 solid prospects for us to even consider Toews' contract.

Fair statement but you have to realize the Habs approach would be to take the cap hit off your hands with the assumption that Lehner is the starter and we free up cap space for the Hawks to make other moves?

If you still value Crawford and don't care about creating cap space, we can respect that. But if you want to create cap space, we can talk. This is not about Crawford vs Kinkaid. Kinkaid going the other way is about giving you a cheaper back-up and you play Lehner more

i think gus or saad to montreal would make sense.

This is going to get ripped.
Gus Sikura and Saad to montreal for Petry and Caufield
Tatar and Brook for DeBrincat and Kirby Dach

If you don't consider this trade, why in a million years would we consider yours?

THe thing is, I'm awaiting for a story like Babcock but on Therrien.

Therrien was laughing at one recruit he made cry in the habs lockeroom 1 year ago at 91.9 during an interview. Lets say I won't be in shock if he comes out in the media.

It's the opposite. We are more likely to take on Crawford for the rest of the year helping the Hawks create cap space room. Trading futures for Toews who has a NMC and Toews does not help us become a top 10 team? Wow, you should rethink that one

Yeah, I think too often fans react to GMs/scouts going to games as a sign of something being imminent, when it's just what they do.

It's a sign of GM's talking and they talk a lot. A lot of trade ideas are looked into by scouts and never happen. That's what your talking about right?

I would take Crawford off their hands if the intent was freeing up cap space for the rest of the year. What would ask for? I think that's up to the Hawks to dangle something if that's what they are trying to do. It could also involve several other pieces from both sides the more you engage.

Both sides list their untouchables and you go from there. Usually, trade talk falls through and you never find out how far or close they were.

Hawks aren't trading Crawford. If they are looking to just dump cap, then maybe. But they can get a better option then kinkaid.

only way to move Seabrook to Montreal is by giving us the 2020 first round pick.

Two issues at play...

1) Canes buying out Marleau (1 year in term) cost the Leafs a 1st and the Canes about $800k of actual money. Seabrook is already a healthy scratch here and there at 34 and signed for 4.75 more years and due to be paid $23M of cold hard cash. Buy him out? That cost valuable cap space for several years and $17.6M of actual money. It would cost a lot more than just a 1st to move him IMO. At the very least they would have to take Alzner. Buying out Alzner would cost $4.8M of actual money and less cap hit.

2) Seabrook has a NMC. Doubt he waives it to go to Montreal.

The only way I would do this is Seabrook waives his NMC, we give them Alzner, and they add a 1st on top of Seabrook. Even then, I think about it.

That's a nice fictional story you're telling here. Where's the evidence of that?

he openly said it during an interview at 91.9 radio, if I remember it was last year during one of his chronicle for the station.

HE said he made a recruit cry and didn't understand why he would cry and was laughing about it. I'm not creating fiction, just gotta find the interview on their website but it will take days.

91.9 Sport : Michel Therrien: Dur, dur d'être entraîneur...

I think it's this one, I will listen, not sure though.

Edit: got one of the spittin Chicklet #9 btw [19:30-22] and Colby Armstrong saying some disturbing things on Therrien:

" he was always having meetings, always.... but they weren't you normal meetings, they were more insults and you couldn't respond, like: " you are a f***ing Pus**, you are a Bi***, go F*** yourself, your mom hates you F S***, etc."

"Therrien also offered Colby Armstrong to fight the day he responded to his insults"

wtf?
