Yep people forget LTIR is 10 games AND 24 days. Because of the compressed schedule, its actually 12 games.

I'm still not sure Hathaway will be getting a suspension though. I think he might just get a fine.

Except Hagelin is known as a defensive player and PK specialist. Leipsic is not. They play a different style of game.

Insult, shminsult. It's a completely non-dangerous play. Sucker punching is infinitely more dangerous, cowardly, and egregious unless the spitter has ebola or something. I'd spit, scratch, kick, and more if I was sucker punched while restrained.

I think spitting is pretty equally treated sport to sport. I understand spitting on a guy when you are getting held by officials and punched. Maybe that will get him off. Spitting will get you in hot water in football and basketball and we saw Alomar's career was severely damaged for his spitting incident. I the real world I would suggest that punching someone is more socially acceptable than spitting on them.

What happened to Hathaway is a prime example of why the refs should not get involved in restraining players, save for extraordinary situations.

I doubt any supplemental discipline is ordained for any of the Ducks. #21 gets to sit a game.

Seems to me a better solution would be to put the players on notice that if they continue to keep throwing after the refs have grabbed a player, it's an automatic suspension.

True, he seemed apologetic about spitting in general, as in it has no place in Hockey, and feels sorry for spitting.

But he didn't seem apologetic about spitting on Gudbranson specifically
