Weird choice for Hall. Buffalo isn’t like Detroit was in 2008 for Hossa.
Now hear me out:
1) Sign Voynov for 2 years at 3 mil per.
2) Trade Pettersson for Roslovic.
3) Profit.

Lol Vegas fans still think they'll be able to get out of Fleury's contract without eating money or giving up much
Not buying out Fleury has already cost them Schmidt, and they refuse to admit that not buying out Fleury was a mistake.
Does Fleury have to be protected in Seattle Expansion?
No but they have to trade him to get cap complaints, so the expansion draft doesn't even matter.
I'm seeing people speculate there's a handshake on Buffalo having a handshake with Hall on trading him at 50% retained to his contender of choice at the deadline, but I'm not sure I'm buying that.

8 million weird?
There's a pretty wide gulf between being permanently ostracized from polite society and simply not getting paid millions of dollars to play professional sports. You could make an argument that Voynov has "done his time," and that's fine, but that doesn't entitle him to an NHL career. Personally, I don't want him anywhere near this team.
Wow Buffalo is really surprising. I thought for sure Hall would go somewhere he had a better chance of winning.

How much can a team go over in the offseason? If Pietrangelo is ~$10.5 million AAV, there's still more moves that will be needed even trading Schmidt for pennies on the dollar.I suppose Schmidt's cap is enough to clear room for Pietrangelo and his ~$10.5 million AAV, but doesn't leave them a whole lotta room. I think MAF would still probably be dealt, but having Pietrangelo on board probably eliminates the possibility of us landing a great add-on in a MAF deal.
Buffalo has improved almost overnight, on paper, since Botts was fired.
What would the lines be?

I’m sure you’re upset we could have got
Watson.
