I've only been here since around the end of last year, but my favorite title so far was "Bongo Fury." That really had a nice ring to it, for some reason.

... pulled that one from a Frank Zappa album of the same name.

I know you know it's rigged, that's why i made the comment about confusing ideologies :)

... ahh, ok. Well next time, use one of these.... :sarcasm:.

Generally speaking are 170 million dollar deals usually consummated at 6:00am on Saturdays?

... sure. On runways in the middle of the jungles of Columbia,
parts of Africa. Techno-Disco's in Moscow. All kinds of places rt.

Doesn't the NFL also take the first billion or so off the top, before even calculating the percentage?

Hi Dado,

Not sure. I see you are at an even 11,000 post. Pretty good!.

"Jamison", "deal" and "consummated" don't seem to be fitting together very well, regardless of day or time.

Consider how quickly some of the other recent NHL franchise sales transactions occurred as a reference point, and that the NHL suggested that the Jamison deal would be "consummated" by late August or early September, 2011.

... well Whileee, Mr.Jamison is getting up there in years, something appears, dysfunctional?.
Ive heard Cialis can cause some kinky krazy time warp stuff that can last for days, even months.

I have an aversion to using emoticons.

... I hear ya, the sarcasm emoticon in particular rather limp, flaccid. :naughty:

There was precedent last year with a $170 million deal being consumated at 5:00 am on a Thursday. The end was result was TNSE owning an NHL franchise. Where there is a will there is a way.

Yeah the only way Jamison could find the cash likely involve coke or guns smuggling!

That deal had been in the works for a while and there was movement in the negotiation. I have had cases settle at 3 in the morning.

This doesn't seem to be a candidate for late night/early morning closeout

 So if a solidified deal isn't announced within 24 hours of a report that Jamison has his financing in order, we are to assume that no deal is happening?

That line of thinking is completely bonkers.

Ask Jamison.... he's not talking to any of us. :)

... in light of the recent revelations pursuant to the CBA negotiations & the NHL's opening offer to the NHLPA, I'm really beginning to think the theory that the sale of the Coyotes, the very real possibility of a breakdown in negotiations & a lockout are all inter-related, connected. A delay to the start of the season, until late December as most Player Agents & insiders seem to feel is better than likely would work favourably for Jamison, the NHL & Glendale. A complete loss of the season, though not a welcome thought would also work to their advantage on a number of levels.

I see. So we're supposed to believe that Jamison has just now put together his financing. Okey-dokey, then.

Is that how you take me after all of this time, Whileee?

I am not adding any credence to the reports of his financial house being of any order.

I am simply amused with the level of expectation placed with the recent reports.

... no rush, no deadline, he's got another 6mnths, possibly another year, likely a far more equitable CBA to feature in his prospectus coming out the other end that should attract some more investors if in fact he's even still looking for any. According to Daly, he's got the money lined up. So instead, perhaps he's holding off until a determination on a lockout is made combined with Tindalls shutting the door on the Petitions both factoring into the delays in closing. Makes some sense.

The deal for TNSE to purchase the Thrashers had been discussed informally for several years. Very serious negotiations and due dilligence began in December 2010 and on February 18, 2011 give or take a few days things really heated up. The tracks ran parallell and some heavy lifting consumated the deal in May.

GJ and the JIG have been at this for some time. There would be some level of benefits to closing the deal ASAP.

On sober second thoughts I agree there is no hurry to consumate a sale to GJ and the JIGs in a timely manner. All good endings take time. I hear interest rates may come even lower so a very good move on the JIG's part.

Haste has been far from a pre-requisite when it comes to this file. Absolutely nothing has been completed fast.

... yep. The Gone Fishin sign on the Sales Office door covered in dust, a sport that takes both infinite patience and confidence. Not that Id know anything about it. Generally find myself completely hammered staring at clouds, chucking the rod, reel, net & tacklebox overboard. Too drunk to fish.

... nothin like a boat on a river with tangerine tree's & marmalade skies ABD. Sometimes in the middle of the day, in a large city conducting business, on an aeroplane, wherever, its like BAM!. Right there. Total recall. Like someone threw a switch. Flashback. Other memories, not so pleasant. Duct taped by friends to a mattress in a cinder block basement for my own safety & for the protection of others awaiting sanity's return. Oh well. Carry on.

Actually, duct tape on the ears would be more effective.

Went flyin fishing with a bunch of guys. Two stoners that came along had never been fishing before they just came for the party. Out in the middle of the lake a guy casts the whole rod and reel into the lake. Motor back to shore about 2 miles gets another rod comes back out, on his 1st cast he snags onto the rod and reel he previously cast in. Celebration pipe...

If there's no lockout and JIG investors get spooked, "Houston we have had a problem" (the true words spoken)

The whole point is that these investors will be spooked by the situation regardless...
