Yes i know that and you know that and everyone on this thread knows that. But I have found numerous statements elsewhere where there seems to be a general consensus that the team is going somewhere anywhere in Arizona but Glendale. Can't happen soon enough I have read.Maybe Tony needs to tell them different?

That's the key disconnect. There is a gap in time that cannot be rectified. Even if any of the floated sites for new arenas had talks so super-hyper-giga-progressed that a deal can be finalized in weeks/months, it takes time to build a new arena, at least 2 years at a Speedy Gonzales minimum. The Coyotes will have to play somewhere inbetween. What venue is there for them to play in as a backup? The Suns arena gets back to the very reason they left there in the first place. And let's set that up as the dynamic: Talking Stick Arena vs. Gila River Arena. Which arena has a less unfavorable arrangement for them? Second-class citizens in a Sarver-controlled arena or the primary tenant in an arena controlled by an arena management firm? GRA doesn't look so bad in that context. The only other technically credible option is the old Vet, but that requires extensive renovation which LeBlanc admitted they don't have the money to do. The options get crazier and farther away from there. If they get a new arena approved, GRA is the only reasonable option in the interim, even without the favorable lease they once had, even with the bad blood. One new factor in their favor is they now have a buffer, a middleman between them and the City Council- the new arena manager. The Coyotes & Glendale won't be dealing directly with one another anymore.

The other disconnect is realizing who is behind the curtain with the LeBlustering voice. This is a team that has imaginary pockets, propped up like a Potemkin village. They can't chip into anything. The only way they get a new arena is if some new fool of a government entity comes along and decides to build it for them. If any non-government/tribe money is used, it would be from the NHL, further adding to the debt the Coyotes have already accrued. Of course, if the NHL chips money in, it might signal that they are writing off the money & credit they dumped into the Coyotes as a sunk cost for the hopes of building a NHL arena in the 'right' place in Arizona (as they say, third time's the charm :naughty:). It does beg the question, does there really exist another sucker who would fund a Coyotes arena to 100% (or close to it) *and* give them control of booking the arena when they had a giant cautionary tale a few suburbs over in Glendale? The only way I can even imagine that happening is a town/tribe with irrational exuberance and a faulty vision like Mayor Scruggs had, of being willing to put so much money into a venture, feeling everyone else was unlucky and this time, it will succeed because they're the ones doing it, surely they'll make a name for themselves with the Coyotes.

All this talk of hands in pockets is making me think of the Alanis Morissette song.

All of these claims of super-progressed arena talks, cities, schools, tribes beating a path to IceArizona's door because they built a better sports team is a Jagged Little Pill to swallow. You Oughta Know LeBlanc cannot be trusted after all of these years. It's Ironic that the local sports media seems to fall for it again and again, forgetting this is just the latest chapter in one of sports' longest-running soap operas. How many times of falling for it before You Learn, AZ sports news media?

Do embellishment rules apply?? :D

You two can take your side, no problem here! A betting man would say this is a bad idea gone real bad! Defend Tony and his henchmen all you want, to me they are nothing more than a bunch of opportunists would overestimated the opportunity! Now, the chips are going against them and they have turned to lies and deception to explain their predicament. I have to laugh at you two attempting to explain the inexplicable! Have it your way, and attempt to tell me and many others here what is the end game for these folks? Please don't insult me and everyone else by saying that this will all work out! If that is your belief, perhaps you could enlighten us all with the details of where the money is and what local group would ever consider partnering with this group of unscrupulous characters?

Not defending anyone here, Mesa. But please feel free to continue to make assumptions.

You don't like LeBlanc. We all get that. You've been nothing but negative about this franchise since long before he even came onto the scene with Ice Edge.

You want me to "enlighten" you?? Why should I bother?? Your hate for this franchise is well documented with loads of venomous verbage. Enlightening you at this point would be a waste of anyone's time. You'll just come up with another reason to spew more.

Caution: Bickley Ahead...

Bickley: Stadium games threaten Valley mood

To quote:

"The Coyotes have one more year on their Glendale lease and need to relocate to the East Valley, where the team expects to add up to 4,000 spectators per game overnight."

Source: http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...-stadium-games-threaten-valley-mood/82406000/

Does anyone in the media in Arizona actually realize arenas don't spring out of thin air and sandy ground overnight, that they take time to build? It's just weird... all these AZ teams threatening to leave their arena, but not threatening to relocate out of state and yet they have no feasible alternative site to play in until their magic new arena/ballpark is built. The NBA & MLB teams haven't had any noteworthy issues with support in the Valley to make them eye other markets. Besides, no other markets seem open and more favorable than AZ right now. Montreal is trying to get it together, but the Diamondback's stadium "issues" look laughable compared to the Rays & A's' stadium problems.

The Diamondbacks have a ballpark on the younger half of MLB's ballparks and the 2nd newest in the NL West. It doesn't perfectly suit their vision now but it's served them well for years. They're the primary tenant and they should be thankful they're not in an Oakland A's like hell, playing in a dump with so many avenues of trying to get a new ballpark being blocked. The foolish county government of Cobb County, GA seemed to give some teams delusions of grandeur, of being able to demand a new stadium before their current one even hits age 20. Few metros have cities or counties that will fall for that, particularly after the legion of disastrous deals have become more widely known (Marlins, Bengals, et al) and some owners use private funds to build their venues and have control over them (LA Rams) as opposed to having the public fund it then ask for control of the venue, revenue streams, etc. They want it both ways.

After all, you can’t build your way out of problems, and all of this will test our tolerance and vision. It's already begun.
From what we've seen, there are several local politicians in AZ that seem to disagree with this.

Yep, theres a Jethro Bodine born every minute & they all run for office. Talk about a Cluster****. Mind blowing. 20-25 yrs on a ballpark? Talking Stick Arena's only 25yrs old or so. This is all just crazy. Right out of control. And LeBlanc thinks adding more inventory is "doable" (despite the fact that he cant even finance a ham sandwich at the moment). How about this....

hapFemG.jpg

100% privately financed, baseball diamond rather than football pitch... you Boys want Socialism? Split the costs of land acquisition & infrastructure along with design & construction 3 ways... Then split ALL the revenues 3 ways.... Setup your own little Commie Pinko Fiefdom... This is enough to turn you right off sports altogether regardless of whether its MLB, the NBA or the NHL... then theres the Bidwells. The Cards... Is Arizona is cursed? Geronimo or whomever?... Like up
there in Utah; In the Path of a Skinwalker.... Ive never seen the like of any of this before anywhere... ever... 3 of the 4 majors with their hands out.

My disdain for Tony, GB and all of the other shady characters that have entered this ownership group revolves around a less than honest discourse with Glendale, its taxpayers and the fans. There is no goodwill that has come from these folks!

TL, perhaps you could tell me what this group has done right? They have managed to get themselves expunged from a nice arena with a $15MM per year subsidy by sheer stupidity in the hiring of Tyndall. They have managed to field a losing team in each of their years of ownership. Now, they are flaunting the fact that they will NEVER spend to the cap, instead they have done all that they can to field the lowest payroll in the league. Is that what you call a success? Its obvious, these folks are incompetent and as disinterested in fielding a winning organization, their interest is simply to get by and hope to be bought out. They could not care less about winning and giving the fans what they deserve.

I may be negative on this group, I think for good reason. What is your excuse for your continued apologies for this group of hucksters? Take a little time and look into Andy Barroway and his background, this guy isn't fit to be the owner of an NHL team! He is an underfunded opportunist taking far more than he is giving. Could well be the worst run franchise in professional sports.

All this talk of hands in pockets is making me think of the Alanis Morissette song.

That was my original intent... read the lyrics and tell me they don't apply:

I'm broke but I'm happy, I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded, I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful, baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine

'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

I feel drunk but I'm sober, I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm restless, I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything is going to be quite alright
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette

What it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet

'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a peace sign

I'm free but I'm focused, I'm green but I'm wise
I'm hard but I'm friendly, baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing, I'm brave but I'm chicken ****
I'm sick but I'm pretty baby

And what it all boils down to
Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is playing the piano

And what it all comes down to, my friends, yeah
Is that everything is just fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxi cab

Phoenix CXIII: Do Ya Think I'm CXIII?

That one has my vote so far. :handclap:

Ive never seen the like of any of this before anywhere... ever... 3 of the 4 majors with their hands out.

Welcome to Arizona, the original home of WTF.

Now, that is using your brain... :D

th

Ya, or hang around like a bad smell the way Anthony did... refusing to go away or give up, obliging & useful fool, winds up as President of an NHL Franchise.... Guy reminds me at times of Jethro discussing his theory on Bowling..... I think Ive finally figured this game out. You take this here ball, put it in this here gully and let it roll down yonder. Then, you hurl yourself down this here slippery gully and see how many of them snake bashing clubs you can knock down before the ball gets there.
