Danault's line finished net positive plus/minus against the Connor-Wheeler line.
Before today, zero offensive zone starts against the Jets as well lol.

You love to see it :sarcasm:

He's been an absolute monster but the incoming contract isn't going to be good and I'm sure no one will be happy about it. I mean if he keeps this up next round then you HAVE to keep him. Even at this point I don't think you can let him walk. He's been a huge part of our success. No two ways about it
He’ll take a pay cut and get extra money from a pizza sponsor :naughty:

your " you need to score to win" is only a part of the equation. " You need to prevent goals from the other team to win the game" is another part .
Oiler's and Leafs scored a lot of goals this season and look where the are right now.

In 7 games against Danault

Marner; 0 goal
Matthews 1 goals

Jets in 3 games

Connor; 1 goal
Ehlers ; 0 goal

and fans are complaining that Danault doesn't score
They dont understand hockey. They just hate Danault. Posters say with a straight face that KK and Suzuki were more valuable against the Leafs. LOL.

Naaa the one that kills me is the "Matthews wasnt good" line. Anyway don't mind them, same ones usually come and post "selke" sarcastically when Danaults line is on for a goal, even though he isn't on :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Not complaining, simply stating he is a great shutdown centre, but he is not a great TWO way centre....and he is not....he does not posess the offence to be considered this.
He is the perfect 3rd line C for the Habs......perfect...
I hope we keep him.....but not at any cost...

His job was a lot easier versus the Jets but he did exactly what had to be done. Wheeler, Connor and PLD were completely invisible. That’s saying something since Connor killed the Habs this season.

Next round will be tough, like the Leafs one.

Phil the Thrill Pizza!

Come on Molson, make a Pizza franchise and give Danault a fat endorsement so we can pay him $4.5M to play hockey and he still gets rich. Or just get in business with one of the Quebec Pizza franchises and get that endorsement going.

I think you are valuing this a little too much in our team structure.

Danault producing is great, but we've played two teams so far again that has one line, who ever Danault line is matched up against is significantly more talented than the Danault line. Add to that, that Danault has not had ZERO offensive zone shift starts this whole series I believe and playing with non top line guys, if he can come out to near net zero against the top line, that is a huge W.

If NZ and KK keep outplaying their matchups, were doing fine.

If Danault's line doesn't come up with a goal again last night then we probably don't get the win. And it's not just the goal, they were offensive threats all game and helped put Winnipeg on their backfoot. Danault and linemates deserve way more credit for these past few games where they've been threats offensively then they deserve credit for the Toronto series where they did nothing offensively and Price stole the series.

If we want to win games we need to score 3 goals, scoring 3 goals is extremely tough to do if your most used player/line doesn't produce. Let's just hope Danault's recent level of offensive play is him finally adapting to the playoffs, because if we go back to Danault's line not producing offensively then Price is going to have to steal the series.

I mean ya, Danault line has been a beast defensively and from game 5 on in the leafs, have been grinding top lines in the offensive zone. Again though, Danault keeping the best line at near net zero is more than suffice to win a series. Of course, if they go up on the first line its a huge W but again by taking on the top line, it puts our other 3 lines in matchups they should win. Also again, Danault's line isn't a traditional first line either, they also aren't put in offensive situations to nearly the same extent as others. Before last game, Danault's line had ZERO offensive zone starts against the Jets.

We are winning because our other 9 have been able to capitalize, they weren't able to capitalize against the leafs until near the end of the series, thats on them.

If danault is matching against a top line and having similar minutes as their top line, that means the other 9 on both teams have similar minutes dispersed between them. If we wanna win, we have to beat our matchups, especially if we are in favourable positions.

Danault and his linemates kept a potent offensive juggernaut line in the leafs to lower than expected goals %, we were about to lose that series because our other 9 didn't take advantage of playing against inferior competition (especially with JT out) That is all.

This whole game plan only becomes an issue when Danault's line starts getting torched by the other teams top talent, which hasn't happened at all in both series.

Anyway, that line has been lights out and Lekhy picked up right where Evans left off. You are right, they do deserve more credit, maybe on this thread lol cause there already getting it everywhere else

Drouin is paid 5.5 and he's not even playing.

He easily gets 6 or 6.5 in Montreal. There's no way in hell he gets more than that elsewhere
