All umps are bad. They are all terrible and all egotistical.
90% think everybody is there to see them.
I pretty much get in a fight with refs for my sons soccer games and he's 11. They're terrible from top to bottom.

Don’t be that guy.
I mean...this is exactly why no one wants to ref. I did it for baseball and soccer for a couple years during high school and decided I had enough due to the constant abuse from coaches and parents. Not saying I was the best and never made a mistake, but it seemed like it was literally every single call.

1) I'm a coach
2) It's arguing about calls against my own team

I did the same exact thing- Signed,
Someone who gave up their USS Grade 6 certificate because he got tired of dealing with the BS that comes with it.
It's 11 year old soccer. Your expectations are set way too high. Plus who gives a f*** if they miss a call, it's 11 year old soccer.Be ****ing better, if I'm half paying attention because I'm trying to coach an area and I can see this ****, these guys clearly aren't doing a good job.
BTW, I should clarify, I'm not out there trying to throw down with the guys, but I do speak up on missed calls, you can't let it slide, he needs to know they missed it so they don't miss it again.
The kids are starting to get aggressive at this age, they are elbowing and kneeing and pushing. If he's not watching, somebody could get seriously hurt.
Parents like @Hiesenberg are absolutely a huge reason why no one wants to ref
I did the same exact thing
and my goodness you nailed it with making little money to deal with people who don't understand the rules
had a kids game where the sweeper was basically standing with the goalie most of the game and a collection of parents were screaming for OFFSIDES! everytime the other team advanced the ball. You can only take so much ignorant stupidity...
Let's be honest here. 95% of refs are fine but there are some that get off to the power trip that somehow they think comes with it. Those people should not be reffing and they deserve to get ripped into.

Haha, might want to ease up a bit. I wouldn’t argue in front of kids unless the ref were being discriminating or dangerous by not properly controlling physical play.
It’s not important to win at that level. Better to learn team skills and understand that losing is inevitable.
Also, as mentioned, youth sports refs are either volunteers or low paid part timers. Try to volunteer as a ref for your kids games. I think you’ll become more sympathetic to the poor saps you argue with.
