Honestly, its really dissapointing.
Klentak needed to improve this pitching staff. You can't outhit terrible pitching every night.
They’re betting on Pivetta to be something of the next Bauer/Scherzer. Doesn’t look likely with his command issues. He breaks the fielding independent metrics. Good stuff, but no repeatability or efficiency.
After Nola, they had a lot of question marks. Their standing pat approach was risky. Aside from Corbin, and to a lesser extent, Morton, there weren’t many options available in UFA. Keuchel doesn’t inspire confidence, much like Arrieta. They blew their load in the trade market on Segura and Realmuto. So they really need their #3-6 starters and AAAA guys to step up, especially with Nola faltering.
