We're not getting Machado or Harper, when the money gets that big, other considerations rule, and Philly isn't a prime destination.
In a few years Trout might be a possibility if he wants to go to all the Eagle games.

Teams that signed 150MM+ FAs the last 5 years: Red Sox, DBacks, Cubs (2), Orioles, Nationals, Mariners, Yankees (2)

Change that to 200MM: Red Sox, DBacks, Nationals, Mariners

Even if we narrow it down to the 2 front-end starters in 2015 since last year's FA crop was lackluster, we have the Red Sox signing Price because they gave him 30 million dollars more than anyone else and an out clause and the DBacks surprisingly beating out the Dodgers and Giants with a 6th year.

Money is the #1 thing most of the time. You don't have to believe me, but you probably should believe Zack Greinke. I still think Harper is a Yankee because they'll give him 450MM+, just not due to some ethereal concept of prime destinations.

Harper and Machado would be the 2019 opening day lineup. I think they have a real chance to land one of the two considering the amount of money they have

Dont the Phillies have some kind of connection with Machado? I think I remember reading that.

Also can you imagine if they did find a way to get Stanton and had him + Hoskins in the middle of their line up next year? Theyd hit 80 homers between them.

Front office powers that be drafted him when they were in Baltimore.

I am worried about the pitching for the future. Sixto looks like a stud, but none of these pitchers are panning out, even Kilome who had big league potential struggled a bit this year.

I'm not that worried. If we didn't have Nola I'd be more concerned. I know they have Bryant & Rizzo but Chicago has pretty much bought their arms to this point.

Lakewood had a great rotation this year with some promotions to Clearwater. The GCL team had another dominant staff as well. They added Spencer Howard and Connor Seabold in the draft and they should move fairly quick as college pitchers. The sore spot was the Reading rotation and guys in AAA taking steps back- Appel, Thompson, Eflin.

Yeah if your team can score, you don't need the Phillies 2011 rotation to be good. If they can find another starter down the road to pair with Nola as a 1-2 punch...I think they'll be set. They have plenty of arms to fill out the rest of the rotation.

How far away is Sixto? I know hes in A but how quick can we expect him to move up the ranks? Is Mlb sometime in 2019 realistic?

He'll be in AA at some point next year and you're only one call away once you reach AA. The Phillies historically don't promote directly from AA, so 2019 is the safe ETA.

With the exception of Nola, literally every pitcher on this team sucks. Watching this double header has been excruciating

Your expectations are too high, a lot of young pitchers who were eventually successful struggled their first couple years in the league. And they rushed a bunch of guys this year like Pivetta due to injuries and then the Hellickson trade.

Go back to the 2008 team, Hamels, Moyer, Myers, Kendrick, Eaton, Blanton. Other than Hamels, that was a pretty sad group. But they could hit, and they had a deep bullpen.

Moyer and Myers shouldn't be lumped in with the rest of the chaff.

Moyer was beyond his excellent peak but was still a consistent 2 Win starter at that point. Myers was coming off of a down year in 2007, but had two excellent ones immediately preceding.

Moyer had a bounceback year in 2008, but was still a back of the rotation starter.
Myers couldn't stay healthy, had two solid seasons in 2005-06, bounced back in 2008, hurt again in 2009.

Hamels 33s, 3.09 ERA/3.72 FIP
Moyer 33s, 3.71/4.32
Myers 30s, 4.55/4.52
Kendrick 30s, 5.49/5.55
Eaton 19s, 5.80/5.29
Blanton 13s, 4.20/5.03
However, Lidge, Durbin, Madson, Condrey, Romero, Seanez provided a deep bullpen.

I'm only referring to what they were in 2008. What they did after that had no bearing on the '08 team.

These standards just don't make sense. Myers' 2006-06 were 3.5ish Win seasons. Those are top 30 or so in an average year. Moyer was a dependable 2 Win pitcher. That's hardly a #5 unless you're trying to comp them to the 2009-10 teams.
