Surprised they found 30 of them lol
Is this where Middleton brags about having 3 prospects in the MLB top 100 again like that’s some accomplishment?
Walked away feeling like Old Mother Hubbard after reading that article.
Aw man this would have been cool. Walking distance from where I grew up.
They wanted to put CBP up near there too, IIRC.
Also near Chinatown.
Good, f*** 'em.
1st and 2nd in both '20 and '21.
It honestly probably should be a bigger punishment.
What John Coppolella did wasn't any worse and he got banned for life.
I'm not sure what Pete Rose did was worse.
It's not. Pete Rose did nothing "wrong."
I don't even think of him when these things are brought up. If he bet against his team then sure.
Ok, now do the Patriots
The MLB has guys who were known KKK members or of some association in the HoF right? There’s certainly guys in there who wouldn’t employ non-whites.
In general I really don’t know why any of these things in all sports take such a high horse stance when there’s known bad guys in all of them various reasons. There’s probably a fair amount of guys who have skeletons in their closet too that the public doesn’t even know about.
Cora is next up.
Now he might get the life sentence since he was a main cog with the Astros and then was involved with something with the Red Sox.
This is quite nuts. Beltran was the main player leader the operation and probably wont get punished.
Seems like a nice way to just not be effected by that part of the punishment at all.
Now they get to hire a new GM and manager instead of having to use a skeleton crew.
All-time greats too. Cobb, Hornsby, and Speaker were supposedly members. Cap Anson was one of the key people keeping African Americans out of baseball in the 19th century.
If you've ever seen the recent book that refuted the Cobb rumors, what you might not know is that the writer was funded by the Cobb family. Convenient, huh?
Yeah I’m not advocating for them to be removed. They’re so far removed from today it doesn’t really matter at this point. The game doesn’t really honor or mention them these days anyway even if it’s on that alone.
I just don’t get the approach for holding others out for some moral reasons.
f***yea Mickey Mantle Moniak! After tearing up AAA he'll be in the MLB by early June. Bookit!
Holy moly. With all the hype about severity of the punishment I didn't think it would be this serious. That's no joke. Sign stealing has always been a part of baseball, but not to the extent that these guys were doing it. Good on the MLB for laying the hammer down. Now if only they would have done this for steroids...
This is where we’re going to have the exact opposite reaction.
With all of the talk about severity this is a slap on the wrist.
