I think Myers has a real good shot at making the team, he has a NHL body, he did his year of seasoning in the AHL, and really came on in the AHL playoffs.

I thought he looked better than Sanheim (who may have lost some focus after playing in the NHL playoffs) and is certainly bigger and more physical (with Ghost as PP1 QB, a young D-man has to prove himself at the defensive end first).

Of course, right now they already have 7 D-men, Ghost, Provorov, Sanheim, Gudas, Hagg, MacDonald, Folin. And Morin has to be put on the main roster in the spring when he's healthy. So it's a bit crowded, but Myers is an exceptional talent.

It really depends on the preseason. If Frost is capable of playing his way onto the main roster with an excellent preseason, there is no reason to think Myers can't do that same. If he clearly belongs on the team come October, then Hextall will accommodate.

I think we almost indefinitely see Myers in a Flyers jersey at some point this season. Injuries and such will happen..

Its fairly obvious to see that if Myers is at least thr 6th best defenseman in camp then Hextall has no option but to trade or demote MacDonald.

Provorov and Ghost will undoubtably be the top pairing. Sanheim has clearly now made the team and I cannot see them ditching Gudas in a hurry. So they make the second pairing.

That leaves Hagg and Myers as the bottom pairing with Folin as the 7th. Morin will be ready to go half way through the year so I would imagine after a conditioning stint in the A, he will be looking to replace Gudas or Hagg. There really is no room for macDonald on this team anymore.

We have put up with his poor play long enough. Time to let the kids play.

I said it before that if Myers is ready, doing what you say makes the most sense. Especially because it gives us a "vet" to come up and down when injuries occur, which they will, without having to worry about being grabbed when on waivers.

Of course they view AMac as the rookie whisperer so he will likely be on the roster while Myers comes up and down when those injuries occur.

There could be a trade in camp. If not then, when Morin is back in playing shape. Top six going into the POs-Provy, Ghost, Sanheim, Gudas or AMac (one of which will be traded), Myers, Morin. JMO, but I think that Sanheim will be a big pleasant surprise this year.

I doubt Morin will dress for many games, first he has to get into game shape, then he has to catch up to the rest of the team.
He may play a few games toward the end of the season to get a feel then get locked away until next season.

Sanheim's future is up to him, how hard he works this summer, and whether he studies film and learns from his mistakes next year.
The raw talent to be a solid #4 D-man is there, but you have to do it on the ice for 200 feet.
He's simply not as talented as Ghost as a rookie, so he has to be more polished to be effective.
He's not going to play PP1, and he won't play PK unless he gets a lot stronger, so even as a top 4 Sanheim may only play 17-18 minutes a night.

Hagg or Folin will have one of the bottom pair slots this season, MacDonald may have the other unless Myers makes a move.
If Myers wins a job, Folin is an extra RHD, and Hagg's physical presence has less value.

I think he is going to be big and pleasant, but anybody surprised by that needs to have their head examined, and also needs to have the beet-flavored Hakstok Kool-Aid removed.

I think that Morin will be ready by the TDL. He'll probably do a few games in LV and then come on up. He could/should have made the team last season and is NHL ready.
As for Sanheim, what he was before being sent down and when he was recalled was night and day. After the recall, he showed that he could play in this league and be a contributor. Offensively, he may not be as talented as Ghost but defensively, he has the size and skill to be better than Ghost. Its up to him as whenever or not he will use his physical assets to his advantage. As we saw in the AHL POs, he is a competitor and did well; injury and all.

No, he was playing fine and really gaining confidence. Then sabotaged by Hak once Manning came back from injury. The only thing that changed after his recall was PDO.

I have posted these stats before...

Here is Sanheim's 5v5 Expected Goals For % in his final games before being sent down.

1/22: Sent to AHL
*Scratched 4 games*
1/13: 13% (6 mins TOI)
*Scratched 5 games*
12/28: 54%
12/23: 62%
12/22: 73% (team best)
12/20: 73%
12/18: 67% (team best)
12/16: 60%

Unsurprisingly London’s loading up this offseason. They have a surplus of quality young players so I’d imagine they’ll be moving some to get some older established talent. I’d have to imagine Ratcliffe & Strome could be trade possibilities down the line depending how their teams do.
