Jones 0 for 3 in OHL vs Russia shoot-out
Austin 0 for 3 in Kingston shoot-out

Look on the bright side........no shoot-outs in the playoffs!

Austin played pretty well overall.

Man, do they miss Robertson

How important to do you think being 1st in the East vs 3rd in the East is?

We're going to lose Jones for sure and maybe Robertson/Chisholm/SDA for a month at WJ. Afraid Ottawa will pull away from us in that month and we finish 3rd. That would mean on the road in round 2 @ SBY and then would be on the road round 3 @ OTT. I dont love that in a year where you need to win

Only way to combat that is go get a stopgap or two. Preferably a goalie (Langevin?) and one of the F's you're trying to get at the deadline, pay a little extra and get him a month early. Hillis or McShane or someone like that who wont make Canada WJ but is an elite player
absolutely agree, we just keep pissing away crucial points

Whose shootout performance did you like better, JPJ or Tye Austin?

JPJ looks like a newborn deer on skates sometimes, not sure why you throw him out there when all 3 of his goals this season have been slappers to my knowledge. He must be really good in practice at breakaways or something.

Disappointing game all around. They never put their foot on the pedal. They took their opponent lightly, like the two points were assumed. Down 1-0 20 seconds into the game isn't the greatest start. SDA with a brutal turnover into the slot. Austin couldn't make a clutch save when we needed it. He did fine in the 2nd and 3rd but you can tell the team, much like the crowd doesn't have a lot of confidence in him.

Avon was more noticeable this game but didn't make a lot of great plays, just saw him a bunch with the puck.

Had to spend like $40 on beer to get through that game. Yeesh.

The D on this team (Chisholm aside) aren't exactly built for 3 on 3 either. Did they only use Chisholm and Paquette? No Maier?

Anyway, it's about the long term and the playoffs, so not going to dwell on it too much. I want Austin to succeed and he was mostly good but then it just came apart at the end.

Kingston, when Wright wasn't on the ice in OT literally stayed in their own zone and killed time, knowing either Wright 3 on 3 or the shootout was how they'd win - and it worked.

They overpass on the powerplay. Chisholm just needs to fire some wristers from the point and let Gallant out battle someone inevitably younger and weaker than him for the rebound while Kirk and McTavish crash the net. They're looking for the perfect backdoor one-timer to McTavish and teams are prepared for that.

Exactly. they're setting McTavish up for the exact same thing that they set up Robertson for. They need to change it up a little bit because PKers have caught on

Junior hockey........
  • Kingston beats Sudbury in regulation
  • Erie beats Oshawa in regulation
Can the Petes bounce back and finish with 5 of 6 points this weekend?
London beat Kitchener 5 to 1 tonight so they will be gunning for bear tomorrow night.

Nick Robertson not slated to return until Dec.5th and then will only be around for about a week before heading to the US Junior Camp. The rest of the squad will have to step up.

The Petes have had trouble at times keeping their foot on the gas when they have a team down.
Tonight is a great test because Kitchener is down right at the start with their struggles this season.
I’d like to see the Petes score the first 2 goals of the game to crush any hope the Rangers have of winning and then keep things rolling from there.

Avon looked better tonight. Drove the puck to the net, had some good breakouts. Hes looking more comfortable with the puck.

If he had to go in a trade to upgrade this season, having a guy like Robertson who is playing like a 1st rounder makes it easier. Robertson could have had 3 goals tonight easily, playing fourth line minutes.

Good game by the defense tonight. Petes are a physical team, finishing every check. Forecheck is relentless. Wilson has them going.

Avon and Robertson both looking really good to me. McTavish numbers speak for themselves. What a draft by Oke this year.

Avon looked much better in last nights game was using his speed, driving the net, has abilities but still needs to work on aspects of his game, needs to get stronger on the puck, use his quickness and finish around the net , patience will help his game, hesitate when face to face with goalies wait for them to panic then snipe. Use your god given abilities your speed and quickness.
