I think that's the knock on him. I didn't see his skating burning the Bs in his stints here. He has good reach, which helps him on D, and is why he had a lot more takeaways than giveaways. As someone mentioned earlier, he can likely be a pretty decent NHLer in the right system. He sure the heck is better than a lot of guys on NHL teams at the moment. It's possible he is content playing in Europe, though, where he can be assured more of a starring and consistent role. I have no idea. He was by all accounts a really nice young man in Providence and highly coachable. Only reason I was irritated with his use while in Boston was that I thought he could develop into a contributing scorer with the Bs and maybe end up being a much-needed offensive-minded middle 6 player for the Bs.

While certainly not the only reason, it didn't help his cause that he came around about the same time as a bunch of other young left-shot wingers that they would try on the right-side.

Tremendous talent evaluation by management yet again. LOL. Sort of missed the boat the past several years on this one. I don't think anything of substance will happen. Not that it really matters at this point anyway. Cehlarik doesn't fit into the limited mold that management/coach expect of players. Maybe it's time to reevaluate that mold.

Dude has had almost as many chances as tim Tebow in the nfl. He just sucks. Chelarik is the baseball version of a AAAA guy

Cehlarik is not good. It has nothing to do with talent evaluation. He’s a mediocre NHLer.

Hell baby
Cehlarik’s two way game is hot trash and he commits horrible turnovers while not being a great skater

aside from that he’s got some high caliber tools.

Maybe Bruins should give him a shot in the next season.

12 goals in 26 games on one of the better KHL teams. He's making a little less salary in the KHL than he did with the Bs. If he keeps up his scoring ways in the KHL my guess is that there will be some NHL teams show an interest in him. I still have my Cehlarik fan club card.

Ever since I saw Cassidy single him out to serve a string of bench minors that weren't his fault, my gut told me it was something other than a talent problem.

Chelarik didn’t play any ST’s. He was an easy choice to put in the box for bench minors. I don’t think it was personal.

I’d still pass, his skating and pace probably still wouldn’t fit on the Bruins. Spooner’s played in the KHL for the last 3 years and has a higher PPG than Cehlarik, right around a PPG and plays with more speed and skill. I would think it would be easier for Spooner to improve his defensive game than it would be for Cehlarik to improve his skating at this point.

Spooner has done well in KHL. There version of Barzal - excellent skater and slick but plays a perimeter game, glad for him good kid

It’s too bad he never developed much of a defensive game, he could have been a decent middle 6 guy in the NHL I wonder if he’ll ever play in the NHL again.

Maybe because he is a great kid but young and I’m sure he has developed as a person and is mentally stronger and mature

If he was interested and I thought this about him I would take a shot

it was less about talent and more about consistency

he’s closing in on 30 so if so he needs to get going

He made over 12 M in NHL and probably doing ok in KHL

Lot worse things in world then being Ryan Spooner and I’m sure he knows that - all the best to him

No dice, name one player behind the perfection line that he'd outscor---oh wait probably all of them....
If he had a goal and 5 assists after 17 games I wouldn't be too surprised. That would tie him for 7th on the team with Debrusk at 6 points, just after Hall's 10.

More of a slight on the Bruins lack of secondary scoring than a compliment on Cehlarik, but I won't lie the guy made some brilliant passes and was great at forcing turnovers. Just wasn't consistent enough to stick around IMO (like many of their current forwards aren't either)
