Another 3 point game by Cehlarik in Leksand's second game of the SHL season. This time one goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over Malmo.

What would be the downside of qualifying him? Worst case scenario he doesn't look good at camp and they send him to Providence. Maybe he wants a one way deal to play in North America.

Probably need to free up a contract spot? you can only have 50. If he isn't going to make it and doesn't want to play here, it makes sense.

None really. By qualifying him they retain his rights. He's already made the decision that he'd rather play in Europe so doubtful he accepts it, so it's of little consequence to the Bruins. No different than the Bruins qualifying JFK, Arnesson, or what they did with Koko for years. It retains the asset, costs nothing.

Do unsigned players overseas count to the 50 player limit ?

No I don't believe so. They aren't signed. Even Junior players who sign contracts don't count if they go back to the CHL.

There is a max reserve list limit, they would count towards that I believe, but the max number is 90 players, so not much to worry about there.

Even if the Bruins don't believe in him, you qualify him in case he proves something and another team might be interested. It's known as protecting the asset. Doesn't cost a contract nor a roster spot, so why not qualify him?

Maybe you get a pick back that wasn’t going to happen until this great production in the SHL.

However, is this resurgence of sorts interesting to the Bruins?
