Everyone enjoys their own entertainment. Hockey is nothing more than entertainment and a big ole macho soap opera. Let me have my happy ending. Go watch another team for a few years lol
Ah, the "if you don't like it, get out".

I've been watching a lot more non-Penguins hockey the past couple years and people are missing out by ignoring it as an "unga bunga, only Penguins" mentality tbh. Especially with this coach in charge, the flawed supporting cast, and the decline of the franchise pillars.

I dont even think people realize what they have in Crosby/Malkin......dude is still over a PPG and even Geno is at a PPG (coming back from a major injury at that(. But here we are calling them done.

I guess if you aint at Gretzky 1980s numbers you aint good enough to play here

Shit is laughable- spoiled fans that dont even realize what they have

You act like people can only watch one team lol. I watch a ton of teams. If you are watching for pure hockey enjoyment why even follow one team? Like how are invested in a team beyond the game if not for the players. It is a genuine question.

If Price is done, which he most likely is, MTL will know by free agency if he is going to LTIRetire they will have plenty of cap space

No, because you still have to be cap compliant for the start of the season. Only after the season starts can you then move those guys on to LTIR and get cap space in-season.

I mean that’s a ridiculous thought for a variety of reasons. Salary cap being the primary reason.

Would you buy an old rare Mercedes that needs a lot of maintenance or new Toyota Corolla at the same price?

Maybe real life example will help this silly fanbase.

Whos your new Toyota ? Your real life example is pretty silly if you ask me.

I mean, watching other teams gives you a pretty solid indication of how far away this team is from legitimately competing anymore. They're cooked.

Been a Penguins fan my whole life. Family from outside of Pittsburgh, they sent me a Jagr jersey when I was in elementary school. Just kinda latched onto them and the sport since. I don't know, I don't *hate* the players or anything. Sid seems like a really good dude. Geno seems like a goofy teenager. I don't wish ill upon them or anything, but I'm not gonna like, hold onto this weird parasocial-esque sentimentailty where they just ~have~ to stick together as a bro-team until they retire. Let 'em walk, trade 'em, whatever. Doesn't matter. The team's mediocre and stale now, losing them isn't gonna change anything except where we draft, and hopefully the FO/scouting dept. are up to the task and can finally work toward building the next era of fun, exciting Penguins hockey.

To each his own. After 17 years it doesn't matter much to me for 2 more years so they can retire together. Again keeping 2 players around won't be the reason this team is stale and boring. Thats the least of the issue. I just think you treat your superstars right. Even Mario ends on a bad note the team isnt even in Pitt anymore.

I'm not from Pittsburgh, I'm not even from PA, so it wouldn't have mattered to me whether I watched the Kansas City Penguins or the Pittsburgh Penguins.

They've been treated like kings, and have millions upon millions of dollars to show for it. They're entertainers who exercise and play a kids sport for a living, not some dudes to be held in deep reverence.

Yes, at this point if they moved the Pens to KC or Quebec or wherever, I wouldn't care. Geography means little anymore as far as ability to follow a team.

It just goes to show how much you really don't know if you "watch all these other teams" in how hard it is to put a championship level team together. Your comments would be legitimate if they were not producing but they still are at a high level compared to much of the NHL

About what? The team accepting reality and turning the page? Because I think this team's been a chore to watch for a couple years, and I'd like to have some hope that they're gonna be contenders again instead of pretending some millionaire strangers are my boys, and they absolutely have to stick around because they ~deserve~ it or whatever. That comes from accepting that Evgeni Malkin is a glorified PP specialist at this stage of his career and not worth the probable $8 million x 3 it'll take to keep him around. Letang's a better player, and more durable (which is an important factor re: Geno) but I still don't think he's worth handing a $40 million, 5-year deal to with how badly he's been stumbling for months, which will only get worse as his game continues to slip since he's entirely athletically driven and not some cerebral guy who can adjust his game to suit a body that's losing its natural ability with age.

Such a chore to watch a team play at a high level and make the playoffs 16 straight seasons. There's so many fanbases fans that would love to smack the spoiled fan out of you.

But you watch alot of other teams so you should know that
