Patty was more or less strong arming Lou to give him the contract he wanted and deserved no? I kind of doubt he'd want to play for the rangers. But that's probably wishful thinking on my part.

This is what I want to assume, but when you think about it... most of the other UFAs who went running (especially across the river) for $$, they never really gave Lou the chance to match/up the offer. We got that opportunity from Elias and he signed it.

That's fine by me.

I thought it's been said that he used the Rangers for leverage? I don't think he would have signed there, unless the Devils gave him a real crummy offer.

Didn't he take less money to remain with the Devils? Just slightly less, but a no trade clause that the Rangers weren't willing to give him?

Bringing the thread back from the dead:laugh:

Been with the Devils so long that a lot of us might have taken him for granted. He is pretty consistent in scoring even at his age, and had a great overtime goal. Second in scoring on the team!:handclap: Keep it up.:yo:

I have never taken him for granted. Nice after a story comes out that he was not happy with the selfishness of some players on the team last game the Devils come out and play a pretty solid game and then have Elias get the winner after blowing the lead late. No way we could afford to lose that game and Elias made sure we didn't.

Actually, I have to be honest with you.

I used to rock that Colorful "Trololololo Kovy" avy before he showed his true colors and left.

Once that happened, I changed it to "Patty's better" because he IS. Better than Kovy, that is. :eviltongu

I'll forever remember how he gave Kovy the eye that time when he didn't hustle out of offside fast enough
... along with all those magnificent things he did for the Devils in all these years.
Patty can talk the talk, but sure as hell that man can walk the walk too. To this very day :yo:

Elias on moving within two of Jagr's OT goal record: "But he's going to play til 48. I'm not."

The man has been a clutch player since his rookie season. The only tough times were when he was asked to wear the "C". Other than that he has been one of our most consistent players ever.

Elias never complained or created static amongst other Devils.

Deboer apparently does not have the respect we do by throwing Gionta on his line last night. When Elias got away from him and played with others, he excelled.

In your face !
classic Devil, #26 will hang at the rock, speaks his mind, the real captain of this team, could be in the hall of fame one day. Had his Jersey since 1999, met a few times and the last time I met him was when the lockout ended and I asked him "are you ready ?" he looked at me with a smile then looked at his daughter and said "no not really" we both laughed and started to talk about our kids and didnt even talk hockey...class act !

**** Sutter for taking the C from him.

Yup. Ended up on Langenbrunner because of him, which caused a boatload of problems. Went to a dude that left after one year, and now an a BAD stay at home defenseman on his last leg. The decision to strip him of the C was so stupid.

whenever one of these Patty threads pop up I always say **** Sutter, Patty should still have that C on his chest

and some people think he's a better coach than Deboer, what a piece of ****
