Just read the roof has collapsed in and flames are shooting out the back of the building.

Horrible. :(

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences to those who visit the sacred site, and the people of Paris & France.

The cruel irony of this disaster is the fire happened on the week of Easter. I'm so heartbroken.

Yeah, I hear they were doing some refurbishment.

I am sure they found a really cheap firm.

Very sorry for the loss for the French.

Man, people being happy about this?

That's awful.

I hope they are not hockey-fans.

And an edit, to not post to much: I heard on TV here (in Norway) they were taking every step to save it. I hope they don't get people killed. I got the feeling risking that is what they meant.

Looking at the fire I can't think they're going to be able to save it.

I was just told by a friend that they've announced it can't be saved and that they're evacuating the area. Not sure if it's true...but wouldn't be surprising. The fire looks monstrous.

They can and will rebuild. Look, for example, at the Cathedral of Amiens. Totally destroyed in World War 1 and rebuilt. It's just sad that such a unique piece of French history and culture will most likely be out of commission for the next 20-40 years.
