Both have speed to burn. Both are better than average in the faceoff circle. Both are sneaky. Both are PK experts.

Vermette had more skill, while Pageau has the better IQ.

If Pageau can be even close to as good as Vermette, that would be amazing.

Vermette is better looking. No homo.

People still say "No homo"?

A poor man's Daniel Alfredsson is a much better comparison. You have to look at the attributes that define a player. Speed defines Vermette, but it does not define Pageau.

Ya even though he has good speed, and probably will get a little quicker even. He's also got skill, but not excessive amounts. Vermette's skill is good, but not excessive.

People will see Alfredsson and get disturbed but it's quite a bit better than comparing him to a player that doesn't control the puck and the right places for it. This is how Pageau has asserted himself so far, effortless consistent proper decision making.

The style isn't so different, and if he can build consistency in that gritty in your face game...he's a hell of a lot more of a lesser Alfie than a Vermette.

Pageau did not look like a STAR last night, but he was quite effective with Condra and Greening and was trusted to be on the ice the last shifts of the game. He stayed on even after his failed empty net attempt turned to icing with 11 seconds left. Maclean is completely sold on the Pageau brand.

Pageau will have a lot of chances to show if he can be a "star" because he is just not going to come out of the lineup period.

If Greening - Pageau - Condra stay together and play 13 or 14 minutes a night they are going to be a relentless line to play against and they will score quite a bit more then they give up.

That's what usually happens after an icing. ;)

Pageau looked ok last night. I thought all our other centres were better, but it was just the first game of the season.
