no, Petry is signed for way too much and also too long to fit under the cap. Chiarot, sure, but the pick won’t be a first.
Florida doesn't get Chiarot then
If Habs aren't getting a 1st rd pick / prospect equivalent to a 1st round pick we'll just keep him and give him a new deal.

lol settle down. Panthers don’t face a first or a second this year, and Tippett won’t require a first as part of a return for Chiarot.

But Habs have no interest in a guy like Tippett. He's in his d+5 year, we know what he has to offer, ie 3rd line player.

You’re not getting a third line player out of Tippett. You’re either getting a top 6 winger or a compete bust.
Hence why a trade for him is useless as he's not a top6 player.

We'd take a 1st or a prospect like Samoskevich before Tippet

Tippet was tearing it up in the preseason, but Florida has the deepest forward group in the NHL IMHO and I think he will be a stud given time and the oppurtunity..

Ideally a top 4 LD, but we don't think The Cats(realistically) have what it will take to get that, or at least nothing they are willing to part with(see Lundell, Anton)

More realistically, a 4-5 LD with a physical presence that isn't a just a pylon, a Soucy, or Larsson(Arizona), or maybe a Dillon type.

Well the Jets have a few bigger LD like Stanley or Samberg that woukd fit that. Neither is a proven top 4 dmen yet but it's not like Tippet is a proven top 6 player yet either.

It would be young physical D with some room to grow for a young winger with room to grow.

There is the problem. He WAS given the opportunity

He played with Huberdeau and Bennett to start the season and did nothing with the opportunity. He was also given PP1 unit and did nothing with the opportunity.

He played great last season when he was lined up with Huby and Benny so he was naturally given that line this season and did nothing. He has less points than Vatrano while having the better opportunity.

Chiarot isn't good though...
Yah we all saw how much he sucked last playoffs netting 20+min a night and shutting down opposing teams top lines...

He's exacrly the type of guys you need in the playoffs. He'll get the asking prife or we'll just sign him back

One of many Habs to go on an insane 20 game run that has no real basis in reality and hasn't been replicated this season.

well, the crackdown on x-checking has vanished, (like everyone expected), so, Chiarot may have value again

Cry a river maybe?

It's been like that for ever. Physical play will always be a thing. Like it or not. Guys like Chiarot, Weber etc who have flaws during the season will always have a great impact come playoff time. Theya re worth their deadline price.

I dont disagree, i just hate how the rules change in the playoffs. ...a penalty on shift one game one of the season should also be a penalty the last min of game 7 SCF.
the rules should never fluctuate, and this is not about any team, or any player, its just about the rules being the rules.
