Prime Rick Nash was an absolute monster of a player. If he'd had anything resembling a real 1C in either Columbus or New York, he would have hit 50 goals without breaking a sweat.
Always wondered what it would have been like if the Sharks traded for him and he got to play with Jumbo in the NHL. A couple of those seasons he could have scored 60.

Eric karlsson. Great player and hall of famer, but heard so many people call him generational or automatic Norris trophy candidate. He wasn’t at that level

Carey price. Change above from Norris to vezina and remove hall of famer.

Also no one on this website has ever liked Nash (except you apparently) so he can’t really be overrated.

The most oddly maligned player.

Never really understood it.

The guy scored 38 and 40 goals in Columbus with centres like Peca, Malhotra, a 37 year old Fedorov, Brassard, etc.

Derick Brassard owes his slight window of being viewed as a top 6 C entirely to Nash.

Crazy to me that a player who scored 40+ 3 times in his career is so discredited or even considered overrated. Sure, those last few years were rough but he had a great career.

Crosby with all the talk, especially from Pens fans, about he is supposed to be the 5th greatest player of all time right behind Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux and Howe.

He is a great player for sure but 5th all time is a big LOL.

He was a finalist for the Norris in 4/6 seasons between 2012-2017, and it's pretty clear that it would've been 5/6 had Cooke not injured him in 2013-13. That's pretty much an automatic Norris candidate in his prime.

They haven't played together a lot (at least in NYR). Brassard was viewed as a top 6 C because of his chemistry with Zuccarello.

Pulled from NaturalStatTrick, in the 14-15 season Nash played 681 5v5 minutes with Brassard, 297 without. He was Nash's most common C by far.

Nash is such a weird one- on one hand he was held back by terrible rosters, on the other it could be argued he never elevated those teams. Idk, I feel like he woulda been even more deadly for 2-3 years on a good team, but he also wouldn’t be the guy to lift a team himself. Either way his peak was wasted, I just think it’s interesting that imo he’d make an amazing #2 but a terrible #1 best player.
