Ovechkin career was in era with more powerplays than now is a narrative ? It a simple fact part of the narrative, was it easier to score goals or not (for which it is only one variable, team mate on your line can also help, but young Ovechkin was so good at creating goal by himself that I am not sure that it would have move the needle that much).
