It won't be for a while.

If I'm not mistaken, we have a few posters that work at/for community league rinks, so they'll have a better idea...

I like this thread. I'll be on the look out, so I'll post if I get any leads.

I can't say an exact date but once it looks like it will stay cold a while it usually takes about a month. Most years its a week or two before christmas so we look to be right on schedule this year. This is for spruce grove anyway not sure about edmonton.

Ya, sometimes in early to mid December I would guess. Probably closer to the middle of the month though.

I'm guessing the second week for December if the weather maintains.

I am totally imagining how awkward and hilarious a HFboards hockey meet-up would be. You'd get people ranging from 14 to 60, some trying to use internet memes, a whole lot of "IMHO", and a lot of debate regarding goals.

snow fall doesn't affect outdoor rinks, in fact all the snow has to be cleared off before you flood. Its all about it staying in the minus.

well yeah but snow means minus weather, so they are correlated.

doesnt it only take 2 days to do it or so? Hopefully the community get on it. Castle Downs seem to be pretty good last year having about 6 small rinks.....It will be a great winter

I've seen them working on Newton rink a couple times now but I'm not sure how far along they are.

With the forecast this weekend I think that will put a little hold on things, we'll see.
