There's also track record and the actual performance of the prospects in respective leagues.
For example, how highly would a Habs prospect be perceived with this performance:
5 pts in 7 games at WJC with Canada. Led Junior team to Championship by leading his team in playoffs scoring with 32pts in 18 games. Had 80 points in 54 games in regular season. As 20 year old rookie in ahl the had 53 points in 70 games.
Misleading post. Bergevin didn't "give away" Radulov and Markov. He lost the negotiations and they chose to play elsewhere. Also no way in knowing that we would've drafted Debrincat and you fail to acknowledge Danault, Byron, Petry.Bergevin gave away Subban, Radulov, Sergachev, Galchenyuk, Markov, Debrincat, Girard and Eller and he got back Shaw, Weber, Drouin and Domi.
Hes def the most terrible GM in the NHL.

Chiarelli and Dorion are worse GMs or at the very least on par with Bergevin. Dorion traded a top 5 pick in a front loaded draft, a former 1st rounder and a player that is arguably as good as Duchene for Duchene. He traded Hoffman for virtually peanuts, who was then flipped for a better return to Florida.
Chia is definitely the worst gm in the league. Bergevin is bottom 3 for sure.Bergevin gave away Subban, Radulov, Sergachev, Galchenyuk, Markov, Debrincat, Girard and Eller and he got back Shaw, Weber, Drouin and Domi.

We acquired them for very little (Byron for nothing) and they'd be rosters players on any NHL team afaik.Listen, Danault, Byron and Petry are being extremely overhyped now. Similar versions of these guys exist all over the league. If these guys are the crown jewel of Bergevin's 7 years then the guy is BY FAR the worst GM in the league. These are decent acquisitions but nowhere near good enough to be the best moves a guy makes.
It's very difficult to digest the Petry contract when you see what similar d-men are going for these days.
Not one of Bergevin's moves could ever compare to this. It's hard to compare Chiarelli and Bergevin to find out who's the worst, it's arguably similar imo. Dorion is just in a bad situation with a crazy owner and off-ice issues with players +++
Alzner vs Lucic contracts
Eberle vs Strome
Hall vs Larsson
Reinhart vs 1st + 5th round pick (career AHLer, can't even crack Vegas lineup)
We acquired them for very little (Byron for nothing) and they'd be rosters players on any NHL team afaik.
Heck we want to talk about another god awful trade. Artemi Panarin was traded for ****ing Brandon Saad. It's like people are only capable of seeing Bergevin's "bad moves" which pale in comparison to some of the god awful moves other ****ty GMs have made (let us not forget Bowman giving 10.5M to a 60 point center when the cap was even lower than today).

I don't know if there is a waiting list or not... it's possible that current season ticket holders are just being offered a priority to upgrade their tickets before it is passed on to people on the waiting list. Regardless enough people have cancelled their season tickets and it's true those tickets were once valuable but the team will be bad for many years to come. I think many fans just feel disrespected, Molson was quick to fire Gauthier after one bad season so I don't understand why he continues to stand by Bergevin who continues to tarnish the brand and destroy the team. Read up on the "Brick" fiasco. Fans are treated like nothing more than cash cows. Going back to the waiting list... there was no mention of it in the article and it was definitely implied that the team might be looking at a net loss of the value of those unsold tickets. Of course this will only get worse with every passing year Molson endorses MB.

Here's a view into Chiarelli and the circus in Boston at the time. Similarly to Bergevin, "attitude and culture fit" seemed to be a reason to trade a franchise player:
Both are cut from the same cloth, but Chiarelli has made worse moves (so far).
Bergevin'sbedt moves after seven years:
Byron
Danault
Petry
Yzerman's best moves after seven years:
Sergachev
McDonagh
Johnson

Those "negotiations" with Radulov and Markov were hardly in good faith. Both wanted to play in Montreal. Bergevin unecessarily played hardball and publicly insulted them. That was pure incompetence, and characterizing it as anything else is beyond disingenuous.

You should compare their drafts after 7 years too.
Bergevin is the anti-thesis of a good manager.
Yes, they won the stanley cup due to the great moves Stan Bowman made. Let's not give Tallon any credit.I'm sorry... how many Stanley Cups did the Chicago Blackhawks win again? But HEY WE GOT BYRON!!! START THE PARADE!! What a ****ing joke!
Losing Radulov was definitely a tough pill to swallow, and if I wasn't so "committed" to this stupid team, I would've jumped ship right then. One of the only Habs I've actually liked watching since Koivu. Those "negotiations" with Radulov and Markov were hardly in good faith. Both wanted to play in Montreal. Bergevin did, overall, an awful job. The worst ? Maybe not, but there is a reason why his apologists (not saying you) are comparing him To Chiarelli and not Yzerman. We acquired them for very little (Byron for nothing) and they'd be rosters players on any NHL team afaik.
