Just now on the post-game show Murray Wilson mentioned a trade that never happened involving Alfie. I missed the first part. Did anyone hear the details?

Not to nit-pick but I need to nit-pick for a second. Paul McLean needs to use his timeouts better. You've got a 2-0 lead and you're team is back on its heels a little and have been icing the puck because they're scrambling around in their own zone and getting gassed in the process? Yeah, call a timeout there. It's a free breather, Paul. Use it, man!

That's all. Go Sens!!!

I find myself thinking the same thing quite often. He never seems to actually use his TO though :S

I said a little review on Florida's game after their 5-1 dominance of Hurricanes if anyone still remembers and the main point was to be aggressive on Florida and hammer them so they don't get creative and man was this team just laying out the body.

Methot
3rd line
4th line
Latendresse

This team has speed, skill and A LOT of grit. Almost seems like a team with new identity. Still early but wow, promising.

Also, has anyone noticed Ottawa's defensive efforts, they seemed flawless in their own zone and how to handle different scenarios defensively to get the puck out of harms way.

Just got back from the game.

Was our PP set up discussed yet?

The set piece Turris scored on was DIRTAY! And the fact that we hit a post and shot wide on the other attemps, just goes to show how effective it is.

Also, can anyone explain Methot's interference call? It looked like a good old fashion hip check to me...(I couldnt see if the player had ditched the puck before the hit.)

Was it interference or clipping? Seems like hip checks tend to get a bad rap in general though.

Well, WOOOO!!!! The Sens defeat the Panthers 4-0 in their Home Opener! Turris had a pair of goals, along with Jimmy O'Brien potting one and Jakob Silfverberg sniped his 1st NHL goal, 'grats Silfy!! Anderson was solid aswell. An all around excellent effort by the boys tonight. We improve to 2-0-0 and are not looking back. We got the Panthers again on Thursday in their barn. Should be a good game, let's take er'! WHEEEUUUU!

Hey guys on NHL.com it says Spezza has two assists on the season, meaning he was awarded one last game against Winnipeg.

However, ESPN doesn't list the other assist from the Winnipeg game.

The guy flipped it just past Methot to no one in particular and Methot hip checked him about a second later. I don't know why it was called interference.

The player had lost the puck behind Methot before Methot had even begun to throw his hit. It was a good call.

I remember there were trade rumours involving him after the 2006 playoffs, but never after that.

Sens came close to tradng Alfie twice: first time (Marshall Johnston GM) to Dallas for Joe Niewendyke, second time ((Mucks GM) for Craig Conroy.

Wiercioch was really impressive.

The way he walked the line on Turris' goal is not the type of play you see from a rookie with 9 games on his belt.

I think he could be an awsome defenseman one day. 6'5, 205lbs, great skating ability and genuine offensive talent. He was making smart decisions with the puck all night. Looks like he's returned to his position as a top prospect for this franchise.

This has been a great year for him, if we are still going to consider him a prospect, then he has shown himself to be the definite #4 behind Lehner, Zib, and Stone

A good game by the Sens. They had a great first period, but they didn't play great in the latter half of the game. Fortunately, Anderson was solid and the Sens played well defensively, not giving the Panthers many great opportunities.

The Turris line was money tonight. Latendresse was all over the ice. I think he must have had 4 or 5 great scoring chances. Turris looks like a completely different player from the one we saw last year. He's much more confident, he's definitely stronger, and he's skating extremely well.

I really liked what Methot brought to the game tonight - just a steady, smart, physical presence.

Regarding MacLean's twin, that was quite amusing. They showed at the game during a TV timeout MacLean looking behind him and spotting his "twin". MacLean just laughed. Apparently, the "twin" got escorted out of the game.
