Should we have a soccer (footbal) dedicated thread for the Euros?

I’m not an expert but I will follow that and would appreciate the insights of savvy posters.

Nuggets need to do some work on the roster as well. Jokic has no help. He was basically playing the Suns alone.

I now see why the Magic wanted to move on from Aaron Gordon, dude sucks ass!

I think the roster is really good but the Murray injury screwed everything up. They would’ve had a chance to contend if he was playing. I think they should try and find a true PG to help Jokic out and run the offense when he’s not on the floor.

Gordon was a great fit when everyone was healthy but we saw what happened when he was asked to do more. That’s just not his game. Perfect #4 on a contender as a defender, who can hit some open shots and play off the ball on offense. Asking him to basically be the #2 with Porter also being hurt/playing terrible was never going to go well.

Gordon is a typical player who has himself and others think he's better than he is. When halfcourt offense starts to matter more than run and gun he just fades away.

On the bright side, the state of Colorado has the Rockies to look forward to for next couple of months!

I really wished the Nuggets had gone after Conley. I think blue arrows injury did kill their chances this year. My biggest fear though is that Murray comes back and is half the player he used to be. ACL injuries to NBA players have not been kind. And I think it’s a huge mistake to assume that Murray is just going to slot back in next year. The Nuggets may have to be in the position of finding a second scoring option again.

I suppose the break from sports will be a good thing. There’s really nothing for me to look forward to until the fall when hockey and basketball start. Don’t think I could be more apathetic about the Broncos and the NCAA.

Football/soccer if funny sometimes. Something very mundane might be deamed a yellow card. Now, in the France-Germany game, a guy gets hit with a wild flying hip check in the head and nothing.

Nuggets have GOT to figure out how to get one more star to supplement Joker and Arrow. I don't think Porter is the answer there. Too streaky, and he managed to injure his back again at the worst possible time. They need better. They need to go out there and get a clear upgrade on him and Barton (no offense to the latter, but they kinda need to move on from him). Someone who can regularly sink a 3-pointer when needed.

And that same player ideally would be a plus on-ball defender. We've lost way too many two-way guys in the last few seasons. If the Nuggets had been able to land Jrue Holliday, that guy would've shored up the roster in so many ways and would've made an enormous difference against the Suns. I don't know who they might be able to pry that can similarly fit the roster as a true point (Jok will always be the main facilitator) that can move the ball efficiently, defend, and shoot the 3 (Murray can really only do the latter and is more a combo/2 than he is a point). Edit: I do like Monte, but he isn't quite that guy.

Monte is where he needs to be right? Playing the backup point guard position. I wasn't sure how that worked with Facu in the mix but it appears to have worked, and worked quite well once Murray went down and Campazzo had to take the starter's job.

I mean, if the Nuggets are going all-in with Joker and letting him run the offense then the need for a true PG really isn't that big a deal right? They need someone who can defend, they need to improve on rebounding, and most importantly, they have got to get more consistent beyond the arc. Gordon helped immensely in a couple of those areas but he also faded badly down the stretch. Don't know how badly the loss of Grant hurt them but would he have been a factor? I'm honestly asking here.

I feel like if you can just get a better version of Will Barton, you might be onto something. A swingman who can either play guard or forward, sinks shots when needed, and defends well. Don't know who's out there though, I hope to hell Connelly and Booth are super-aggressive this offseason.

Sucks Nuggets weren’t healthy in the playoffs. With all these injuries that have happened the last couple days these playoffs are wide open. Would’ve been a nice path for a healthy Nuggets team to win a title.

Honestly, I don't think it would've mattered if we were healthy. Yeah, Murray would've helped, but Phoenix was lighting us up, especially CP3. That midrange jumper off the pick and roll is deadly! And he was draining it every single time. Plus, the Nuggets had no defense as Phoenix did basically anything they wanted. Lobs to Ayton all day, the pick and roll, kicking it to an outside shooter. Phoenix didn't have one bad game the entire series. Props to the Phoenix GM though, he really built them the right way.

CP3 just tested positive for Covid. What a blow if he’s out an extended period of time for them.

I'm at a loss of what I'd suggest for the Nuggets roster next year........I'm actually a lot more pessimistic than you guys I think. I don't see Blue Arrow coming back as the same player he was. I think MPJ just destroys this team when he's off - his 1 for 12 nights from the arc just slay this team. They do need a guy who can drain 3's and play defense. I thought Gordon was gonna be the defensive guy they were desperately needing, but then most of the times when you'd expect him to be in the lineup to shut someone down he wasn't trusted to do that (Dame in particular). So I really have kind of soured on Gordon....I think he lost confidence a lot himself over the stretch and some of that probably stems from lack of offensive involvement and that trust in his defense. Maybe he can get some mojo back and be better next year.

I'm not a huge Barton fan...could take or leave him...(probably same with MPJ)....Barton's too skinny and frail to defend a lot of guys....Morris and Campanzzo seem like they're both capable but it's a bit of overlap - they probably need to deal one for a defender/3pt specialist.

Yeah...not sure what I would do with the Nuggets roster...but man did Jerami Grant leave a gaping hole because he filled a lot of these boxes for the Nugs

I personally think Gordon is a great complementary player--but no way is he a starter.

Gotta find another star. I don't care if it's another guard or forward, but right now it's Jokic, Murray, and a bunch of spare parts. Some are better than others, but when Jokic is turning in MVP performances and the Nuggets are still getting their asses handed to them, that speaks to a distinct lack of talent. Gotta do something about it, and MPJ is simply not the guy. Way too inconsistent, too injury prone, not good enough defensively.
