Hughes doesn't have to be good just okay as the generals have Keyser and he defiantly will be playing 95% of the games, baring injury, Hughes a capable OHL goalie that came for a 9th rd draft pick (cheap return). this move clears who is not staying as an OA and Matthew Sbrocca not ready for being the backup needs playing time and he won't get that in Oshawa.
Ya and Hughes might excel in Oshawa, a change of scenery can do that for a goalie. So you might get lucky if he does

I certainly have no problem with the addition. Unfortunately Ceci is the odd OA out and needs to be moved/released. When that happens we’d only have 2 goalies readily available, we needed a third. Even if Hughes doesn’t get better with the move, he’s just as good as Ceci and that leaves us in the same position with goaltending and the OA situation is fixed. So Hunt got Salinitri for Commisso and Hughes for next to nothing, but the OA issue is resolved. Now he needs to go get a couple more pieces to make this team a contender.
This weekend should be interesting. If Keyser leaves for camp Friday than we’ll have Hughes/Sbrocca for three games in 3 nights, or Ceci/Hughes with an odd OA out. Studnika gone/when does Eggenberger and Gross leave for camp? Should be wild.

If Hunt's plan is to add this year with guys who will be back next year and be good this year, with a chance for Keyser to do what he does and win a series vs OTT for you and then go all-in next year, I dont think he needs to add too many pieces for that. 1 F and 1 D who will both return?

F:
Eggenberger-Studnicka-Noel
McShane-Salintri-________
Henderson-MacLean-Tullio
Antropov-Robinson-Wong
Others: Bollers, Resnick, Drouin, McKinney

D:
Brewer-Gross
Ennis-Vallati
_____-Brassard
Others: Blacker, Franche, Rupoli

Keyser
Hughes
Others: Ceci, Sbrocca

Options for the F:
-Brett Neumann ('99) will be the best '99 who will be back available IMO.
-Greg Meireles ('99) wouldnt be cheap, but a good OA candidate next year too.
-Jonathan Yantsis ('99) big bodied 99 whos having a breakout year.
-Jake Durham ('99) from this area and is having a career season in Flint.

Options for the D:
-Fedor Gordeev ('99) only makes sense if you think the Leafs wont sign him, hes a 5th rounder.
-Kade Landry ('99) good OA candidate for next year too.
-Jakob Brahaney ('99) can run the 2nd PP unit and will be back next year.

So with the OHL hosting the memorial cup in 2021. And oshawa likely putting in a bid, does this change peoples theory on what the team should/ will do this year or next. If they go all in next season, kinda means could be tough to be competitive in 2021.
Thoughts?

I’d be very surprised if they put in a bid for 2021. Usually you don’t go for back to back bids

Rocco wants to host though, and he has made that very clear. If you also think about who is competitive in that season and who also has any chance of bidding, you may as well try again.

You've got Sudbury with the new rink who will try to bid if their team is as ready as it should be for '21, but then really nobody else other than us.

By '21 it could really be anyone in terms of talent. KIT/LDN obviously have the arenas for it. Could someone like Kingston get it? They have a lot fo young talent that could be veterans and a good team by '21. Their arena holds 5,700. Ottawa or Hamilton? They both struggle to get fans but both have a huge arena. It's hard to say

Hey guys, just curious. What might Florida have in Noel? Thanks in advance.

-ghoste

One of the fastest skaters with the puck in the OHL. Still raw in the sense that I don't think he knows how good he can be. Doesn't shoot enough but multiple times a game he'll go end to end on a rush where no matter who the D-man is, he has absolutely no chance to stop him

2-1 Canada after 2 in their first tryout game and Jack has both goals. Shows off the speed here and then opens Matthew Villalta up and slides it 5-hole

Ryan Merkley to the Petes hahahah. Why do they do this to themselves. Guelph is a top 3 team in the West and badly want to get rid of this kid because of his attitude. Guess the Petes think they can change him. This will be fun to watch

Really shitty game for Hughes to make his Gens debut in. Mising 2/3 of their top forwards, their best two-way Dman and obviously Keyser against a team who has some really high end F's.

I'll go 5-2 HAM, Saigeon

Really? The Petes just filled their position of greatest concern for next 1.5 years with the best offensive D.

But it just adds a new position of greatest concern, which is defence and effort whenever Merkley is on the ice lol. He's very talented, but he's not the type of player you win with. He's the type of player you get to the 2nd round with and then upderperform and he goes out in a blaze of glory with the fans hating him and him hating the fans lol. Josh Ho-Sang 2.0
