This is what the world is like when you actually have a plausible GM.

"The price you pay" to get a D that is miles better than Adam Larsson and instantly becomes our top D. We give up nothing for this player, and we get him at a good price.

I mean really, this is great right?

We instantly have a more dangerous PP and it was already really good but our weakness if there was one on the PP was the point.

The only concern I have with Barrie is GA and people can weigh in on whether that is indicative or a factor of really difficult minutes and D pairing problems.

I'm loving this one!

I don't think Barrie is overall better than Larsson (or at least what Larsson was when we traded for him). I do think this is a much better move than trading Taylor f***ing Hall for Larsson.

I think before rushing to post a signing. There needs to be a legitmate source that confirms it.
Getting your hopes up and then getting them dashed is not a fun feeling.

It goes witho he saying that Barrie disappointed in Toronto(especially under Babcock) but that doesn’t mean he can’t still be the top pairing defensemen he was in Colorado. He wasn’t a goood fit with the Leafs due to Rielly being a power play specialist and Muzzin not being a good partner for him. I’m sure he’ll be fine, I’m all for Edmonton shoring up and having multiple successful Canadian teams.

I wonder who offered him 6 million? Detroit?

Another bonus to this deal is that I bet Seattle will claim him in expansion. He has an opportunity to put up major points here, and sign a big contract with a team who will need to hit the cap floor. Seattle would be a good spot for him as a BC guy. We may be able to keep guys like Jones and Benson.

Someone who can move the puck is the biggest need.

Exactly. We relied on Bear way too much to be our transition everything and that aspect of his game was falling apart by the time post season rolled around as he was eating too much minutes and too much responsibility. Which both Tippett and Holland saw, I'm sure.

By adding Barrie we don't just get him we get several dimensions, impacts, and him making our other D, and forwards better. We just don't have this strong transition strong offense Vet D in our lineup and we've needed it for the whole time McDrai have been here. Both of whom would be dancing at this news.
