Oilers are now down to #23 for PP opportunities at 30

Arizona has 2 less PP's than us and are at 28th.

We will be at the bottom of the league soon.

It is infuriating at the blatant game management. We are being punished for our PP. Bushleague fixed league and never a peep about it in the media.

#2 is Montreal with 44 PPs 14 more than us. 13.6% PP
#4 is Vancouver. 43 PP's 13 more than us. 14% PP
#11 is Calgary with 38 PP's 8 more than us . 26.3% PP

CHICAGO AT #1 WITH 45

Ottawa (20%), Toronto 22.9%), and Winnipeg (28.1%) all ahead of us as well.

We're 9-1 so I'm not going to complain about the lines. Maybe having Yams on the 3rd line will give us a more balanced attack. That 3rd line will be relentless on the forecheck. Kassian just needs to keep it simple on that 2nd line and create space for the other 2.

Interesting how the shitty teams (Chicago, Montreal, Vancouver, etc) are in the top 5 in terms of PP opportunities. Almost as if the NHL is trying to prevent blowout games.

If you want interesting, look at the 4 previous seasons.

NHL Stats

Colorado has the worst season of the cap era and then suddenly they're gifted the most PPs in the league for 4 straight years. Keep in mind that they barely made the playoffs in the first two years so it's not like they were some dominating team earning those calls.

I don't hate shaking up the third line. They were pretty good last game, but they had a rough handful of games before that.

Sceviour still pretty much has the best analytics on the team from that first game with Foegele and Ryan, so I don't think you necessarily need to have Kassian there for them to be solid.

Who knows? With the way Kassian has been playing, you could end up with a better second line and just as good of a third line if everything works out.

So the Bouchard demotion made a bit of sense because he was struggling a bit but... Barrie was as bad or worse with Nurse so imo it should have been a temporary demotion.

It's stuff like this that makes me think our playoff chances are nill no matter how good our regular season is.
D lines are made by Playfair. Tippett defers to him.

why did they space out the games so much this early in the season? Looking at the rest of the schedule from here on out it seems pretty condensed

So is Skinner going to ever play? He is going to be expected to be lights out and the dude hasn’t played in a month

What’s everyone’s expectations from this road trip?

They were good on the road the previous season before COVID shut everything down. Detroit should be a win, they usually do pretty well against the Bruins and they're not doing so hot, same with Buffalo but you can't win them all but it'd be nice, Blues and Jets will be tighter. I'm gonna be crazy and say 4-1

If Skinner doesn’t play on the road trip and Smith isn’t back, Holland will have to make a trade. Ridiculous to expect either Koskinen or Smith to play this much

Let's be honest playing one or two games then getting 3+ days off hardly should count as playing a bunch

It shouldn’t, but Koskinen looks sharper when he isn’t guaranteed to start every game
