I think I'd do it. I know we'd have a huge hole at RHD, but I think Peesh is capable of a more offensive game than he's been allowed to show, and we have two future PP QBS in Hanny and Bean, and if Luke Martin follows the track of Savin and Peace he could be ready to go a year from now. Nylander is the kind of guy I would be looking for when you talk about cashing in on our D depth.

Flames, Canucks, Jets: 0 games.

No surprise, really. Second-tier Canadian cities aren't really hockey markets.

I wonder just how completely overlooked the Canes are when you factor in national broadcasts of CBC and RSN. I'm guessing we're criminally underrepresented.

Which is whatever. They'll be forced to air our games come April and May anyway.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised/upset about getting 1 game. We aren't even a draw regionally, let alone nationally.

Gotta make the playoffs again for people to start paying attention again, just the way things are. I mean until two years ago when they drafted McDavid nobody outside of Edmonton gave a flying **** about the Oilers for almost a decade, and we never have that kind of luck to get a generational talent to just fall in our lap like that.

I prefer FSC broadcasts anyway, so from a personal experience perspective I'm a fan of this.

Obvious I want national exposure, but you have to actually do something to earn that. We haven't done anything.

Yeah this is to be expected. If/when we're in the thick of the playoff hunt after new years they may flex us into some of those TBD slots like they did Columbus last year, but I wouldn't count on it.

The Blue Jackets have 1 game as well, and they were good last year. For the Canes to get any national games they'd need multiple deep playoff runs, and even then the dynamics of how NBC operates would need to change.

Remember NBCs only job is to get the highest ratings they can to get the most ad revenue they can.

How much does the local network affiliation play into these NBC schedules? Is it possible that a lot of the teams with the local broadcast being on NBC networks have a lot more games while the teams without NBC networks get a lot less due to contractual reasons or due to just NBC economics? Given there are some very good teams with almost no coverage while some bad teams get more, I bet it is a large factor.

Their first and foremost job is trying to get ratings, which is why you see a lot of teams that are meh (Philly, Boston) or just flat out bad (Buffalo, Detroit) that have big fanbases littering the list of this, while teams that are improving but from small markets (Columbus, Us) and lacking a superstar are typically nowhere to be seen until they've been established as good teams for a while.

Yeah. I don't care much about this. The comments in the original thread were right on the money: they might as well create the "NBC" division and put the highest-draw teams in it.

I like Forslund, and God help me, Tripp.

Agreed, if anything I see it as more of an inconvenience then anything, though I don't really care much if they broadcast one of our home games as I'll likely be there anyway.

I really enjoyed these broadcasts during my time in South Carolina while we were making our late season run. It was a real pleasure getting to come home from work and throw the game on tv and listen to the broadcasting team. Even Tripp.

This "woe is me" over national exposure is my least favorite thing about the Caniac nation. Doesn't Pierre McGuire work for NBC? No thanks to more of that.

Btw, heard the color guy in between benches referred to as a "Lucky Pierre" and thought it was a nice fit.

Honestly I like the FSC broadcasts quite a bit lately. John and Tripp have developed good chemistry, Tripp is more lovable than hateable, Maniscalco was a good add. The production quality isn't NBC level but it's not bad either. I don't feel like we really need anything we're not getting.

I also couldn't get a wet fart about nationally televised games. Why do we want to sit and hear and unfamilar voice mis-pronounce players' names and try to pretend like they know anything at all about them. John and Tripp are great with me.

- I will say, as I recall, the 05-06 team only had one national game scheduled on what was then OLN. I think they added another one later in the season.

John and Tripp put so much work into having real insight into all the players and teams on both sides, rather than just reading the 'generic assessment' that seems to be passed from broadcast team to broadcast team.

I sometimes wonder if the teams (or the league) put together a crib sheet, and pass it to opposing broadcast teams. That would explain why they all say nearly the exact same things about all the players/team in general.

It does seem like Tripp takes the time to meet with and talk to players from opposing teams before the games. Especially guys that can give little tidbits of info that pertain to guys on the Canes.

I think broadcasters share info with each other as well. Could be why you hear the same thing over and over again from opposing broadcasts, especially since Tripp is just as guilty of that as it pertains to whatever buzzword the coaching staff gave him at the beginning of the month.
