Which is it? Constant trade rumours, or no trade rumours?
7.5+mill on his next contract is reasonable for a top-line, star winger. The only gm that'd be unwilling to pay that price is probably EM. And if a team would like to offer sheet him for over 8.1mill, the compensation is two 1st-round picks, a 2nd, and 3rd-round pick (or four 1st rounders if some team wants to offer him over 10.1mill). Canucks fans aren't in a panic about Brock Boeser's next contract -- there's 64mill in cap space when he needs to be re-signed (assuming the cap doesn't go up in 3 years).
You do realize the $7.5M is the minimum?
Doubtful on agreeing to this amount on a long-term deal, so expect approx 6 years @ $9M+ per year. Slightly below the Rants/Kucherov/Stone - $9.5M average.
Marner 6 years @ $10.9M is plain stupid.
Yes, the plus sign after the 7.5 (and before the mill) indicated so. If Brock Boeser deserves 9mill at that point, then so be it. 64mill in cap space, (even w/o the cap going up & excluding Micheal Ferland's 3.5mill that may or may not come off the books [if he's forced to retire]), is a lot of money. If Elias Pettersson & Quin Hughes re-up at 10mill each, and sign a goalie at 7mill, there's still a lot of money to re-sign a top-line/all-star winger. Canucks are in a good position going forward.
