Just got a 2011 Chara home knockoff as a gratuity, aside from the neck lace looking a bit odd it's so accurately fake I'm almost uncomfortable owning it.

So many tags and stamps of authenticity it's kinda creepy ... I guess he paid 28$ USD?

RIP BRUIN

CNJETEER3NA7FCQHJ73CJ3N3YI.jpg

Saugus police lost an important member of its department Thursday with the death of Bruin, a K-9 who served with the force for eight years.

Bruin, a 9-year-old German Shepherd, was diagnosed with terminal cancer last month. He died on Thursday after a “final ride” throughout Saugus, escorted by roughly 30 cruisers from local communities.

Angel Day Blessings sweet boy....

I need advice here. I'm normally someone who just rolls with it and doesn't go out of my way to make others days awful, but I'm still pissed about this almost a week and a half later. What's the likeliness of getting some type of refund or plane voucher for the following?

My wife and I flew JetBlue to FL last week for a few days so she could see her family, and then took a trip to the Keys since I had never been. We took a late flight on Tuesday so I was able to work to save a vacation day.

Our flight ended up being delayed by about 30 min, so instead of leaving around 830, we left at 9. By the time we landed and taxied at Palm Beach, it was 1230. My wife had to use the restroom, so when we got to our baggage carousel, it was around 1255, and our bag had been removed from the belt, and locked in the office for the night. No announcement was made, no employees around to open the office. We ended up sleeping in PBI due to the fact that they said the office would be open at 430am, and our accomedations were about an hour and a half away, making it pointless to drive there just to drive back. 430 rolls around, and not a soul was to be seen. They suggested checking with the ticket counter, which we did, and no one would come down to open the office.

Finally around 530, someone showed up and went in the office, and I made her give me the bag even though she wasn't working there.

I'm still livid about this because it frankly started our vacation off on a terrible note, and we were exhausted from it for the remainder of the trip due to the ****ty sleep we got that night, and DST happening as well.

I'm not sure if it's a JB issue or an airport issue, but the entire thing was ridiculus.

Thoughts?
It’s absurd. Definitely file a formal complaint with JBLU and PBI management

Thanks!

I also teach US History to the middle schoolers and I just organized a trip to do the freedom trail in May.

Now, forgive, but "I was Hamilton before Hamilton was cool." And George, too. Jefferson, not so much. Ron Chernow's bio is very good, though perhaps a bit overlong & turgid for high school readers.

The popular historian Richard Brookhiser wrote two excellent, slim volumes about Alexander & George that may make your book report list.

For the older students -- and I realize you are well aware -- American Sphynx (Jefferson), Passionate Sage (John Adams) and the very worthy His Excellency (Washington). These by Joe Ellis. Each are short & easily digestible.

Doubtless you have a lengthy list of your own.

No expert, but if you wish to add suggestions per 20th C. politics & policy to your list, let me know.

Good luck & keep at it,

Say something thats entirely f***ed up. Time is the most valuable thing we have. They messed with your vacation and relaxation from day 2 day normal life. I would say something. JB and Airport if ur brushed off media.

I hope other media refuses to show any of it. And WTF is wrong with Twitter, Facebook etc?? They should have shut it down once they knew what was happening.

I think I understand where you're coming from.

And whatever the manifest failure of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, et. al. to edit their platforms responsibly, I opt for "open sewer" media. Even of this kind. If you want to find it, you can. If it's out there, as it is, you have to deal with it.

Ignore it. Watch it. Condemn it. Or not.

"Sunlight is the best disinfectant," as Brandeis wrote. This is difficult.

Democracy -- *our* democracy -- is difficult.

When I was but a lad, I had the hardest time deciphering song lyrics.

For example, I thought Golden Earring was saying “red eye love” instead of Radar Love.

I thought that Aerosmith’s Eat The Rich was “Cig-A-Rettes”.

Anyone else have this happen?

Oh, man.

Don't get me started. As Paul McCartney opined, reading lyrics is a creative business. It's actually quite lovely; the listener creates his own connections, sans a lyric sheet.

A favorite,

Creedence Clearwater Revival: There's a bad moon on the rise

My interpretation: There's a bathroom on the right

I’m about a hundred pages into Hamilton.

I did Chernow’s Grant last summer and it’s DENSE.

My church has always been looked at as a “soft target” due to its size and location right on a highway with close access to a variety of highways. It’s in your mind. Over the past year they have put big concrete barriers up, and recently hired a security company to watch the video surveillance during services. It’s something you are aware of. As a matter of facT my son is a police officer and allowed to carry so when he goes with us I won’t lie and say I don’t feel safer.

As for your white text, 100% correct and it’s not even worth thinking about, because there really is nothing you can do
My husband carries everywhere (he can). It used to bug me. Not any more.

Well, that's interesting. I have never actually checked the lyrics, Springsteen or (revised?) Manferd Man (sp). They're both great, but I'll leave them where they belong (for me). In the past.

The actual lyric is "Revved up like a deuce" ("Cut loose like a deuce" for Springsteen) as in the revving of the engine in a deuce coupe. A "deuce coupe" is a '32 Ford coupe, used as a platform for hot rods.

I never knew that.

I have no idea when I heard that song for the first time, but it was a very long time ago.

Thank you.
