Couture and Kane commented on Dreger's tweet about the phantom high stick penalty. Apparently they are still mad about the penalty Subban drew in the 1st.

I'm torn between Vlasic acting or if it was really just an instinctual reaction to almost being clipped in the face. Arvy's stick was came very close to his face.

So strange seeing players getting into petty online arguments. Sure, they have a point, but it still makes them look bad IMO.

I think it was both, I think he initially moved as a reaction and then sold the hell out of it when he realized it didn't hit him. It's bad, but let's not like we don't have guys of our own that sell calls.

Refs miss penalties all the time. It's sometimes unbalanced and one team gets the advantage. That high stick call on Subban was a wrong call. It was Johansen's stick that hit him. Then on the other end Burns gets away with a cross-check/interference on Arvy. These usually evens out on long run, but in a single game they can make a difference.

Even if you win despite the other team being favored by missed or wrong calls, it usually leaves a bitter taste. That could be just a flinch and a little bit of selling it, so I don't blame his teammates for defending him.

Refs made a mistake, but I'm not convinced this is as bad as some people seems to make it. That's after all a slow mo video.

this stretch of games against good teams is a stretch where the failings of the PP, PK, and only the top line scoring will show if they continue. Much less all three.

We should probably stop pointing fingers at the Avs and calling them out as a one line team untill our guys manage to get their head around the fact that the season has started...

Yep. A great line and great even-strength play can carry you for a little while in the face of almost no scoring depth and awful special teams, but, only for a little while. Smith is doing his part in the middle 6 but we need more. Turris has 6 points in 9 games and that kind of surprises me - it feels like he's played a lot worse than that. I think he has another level to his game and we need it.

And then there's Fiala...

All the skill in the world. I need to see him working harder in the defensive zone on a consistent basis, and I want to see a simpler game out of him. Stop trying to do so much with the puck and move your feet, kid. Get your speed working. Watch a couple of Arvidsson's shifts and how his motor is always running, then DO THAT.

Grimaldi called up from Milwaukee since Hamhuis is on IR

Grimaldi was in Fiala's spot on the 2nd line during morning skate. Jarnkrok and Rinaldo also switch spots.

Whoa:eek:. Guess Lavy hit his breaking point with lines 2-4 and Fiala.

I didn't see preseason games, so I don't know how Grimaldi played, but by your comments I got the picture that he might have deserved a spot in the opening lineup. I can't wait....

Rinaldo-Bones-Hartman is going to be terrible though lol.
Idk, it can be terrible or it can be a superb energy line. Two missiles on skates along with a defensive minded Bonino who can occasionally make really good plays. And tbh, Rinaldo has been good so far.

If Lavy is shaking up the lineup to try to create more scoring after the first line that isn't going to happen by replacing Jarnkrok with Rinaldo.

I give Rinaldo full credit. He has been better than expected thus far. But if the team is looking for more secondary scoring after JOFA icing him is counterproductive. I do fear that his quality play this far will keep him in the lineup beyond when he should've been taken out. Lavy seems to love him as well...makes me nervous.

Rinaldo's been good but I agree with you. The one consistent line has been the 4th line - I would've kept Sissons and Rinaldo there. Fiala - Bonino - Hartman could be good, two guys on contract years and an elite defensive forward down the middle (although bad offensively so far). Then replace Salomaki with Jarny on the 4th.
