My insiders were telling me Simmonds + Hagg for Nylander + Liljegren + 1st

Wow that seems really, really bad for Toronto. They have to get one of Sanheim, Ghost or Provorov as part of any deal. If not, it looks like a massive failure to me.

The only reason anyone would complain about that is because of this Shanaplan everyone taking a hometown discount narrative that's been floating around. It's always been unreasonable for that to happen. Outside of that it's fair market value.

8 years at $7M per would have been a great deal. 6 years isn't bad but it isn't ideal either.

If these are the terms, there’s not reason a deal couldn’t have been made weeks or months ago.

He can't have a no trade for any year before he would be Ufa so I doubt that's the exact contract

I mean if Nylander wanted mid to high 8's that is a lot of room to cover hypothetically along with the Leafs potentially being low to mid 6's. Granted nothing about this process has been logical and it really should have been an easy negotiation...but here we are.

Not if in the off-season Dubas was at $6 million and Nylander was at $8 million. It's impossible to predict how these negotiations play out. Why did it take Lindholm and the Ducks to the end of October to hit $5.25 million when it's a perfectly fair deal?

Pretty much any deal with either Liljegren or Sandin, let alone BOTH, is really not ideal for the Leafs.
