Well, we haven't had a player that has changed the game, smashed records or are singlehandedly the catalyst for rule changes since the Gretzky era
Avery, and brodeur both made the nhl change rules since Gretzky was retired .

Nylander will sign once he starts missing pay cheques.

Leafs hold all the leverage so I’m not one bit worried.

Do Leafs Fans really believe that their whole LW are worth in Total 6M ?
what will happen when the whole league will understand to shutdown your middle and right side ? your left side is a joke.

Because in no way in hell nylander is worth his 8.5m he's asking for. His comparables are at 6.25 to 7
If that’s the case, I don’t want to hear anymore crap about him being a center. 6.25 is less than the Ehlers contract today.

Nobody can match leafs center depth so they'll be ok.

While I think you are drastically underating the LWers (Johnsson, Leivo, Hyman), good luck to whoever thinks that shutting down Tavares-Marner, Matthews-Nylander, Kadri-Kapanen is just some simple thing.

The Leafs also have extremely strong puckmoving d-men on the left side that can help cushion that side. You just cover the center and right, you're leaving Rielly/Gardiner/Dermott lots of time and space to make plays.

Clearly it will only be those teams with ideal balance throughout that can hope for success. Must be why Matthews and Nylander have consistently struggled to produce offensively.

Extremely strong Moving D man ?
what ? did we watch the same Stanley Cup ?
Also Mat/Nylander and Kadri/Kapanen are not gonna be hard lines to shutdown... Tavares will, not Mat/Nylander.
(Kadri on a third line is really strong though, I give you that)

If Marner has anything over 65 points next season he will and should get 8+ if he signs for 8 years. Cap is going up and signing for 8 years buys a lot of UFA years. Same goes for Nylander in terms of signing for 8 years, fully understand if he wants 7+ if he signs an eight year deal.
The price goes up for every UFA year they sign for. Might actually be smart to sign them both to a little shorter contracts to keep the cap hit down a little and make it easier to contend in the next 4-6 years. Will hurt them in 6 years when they need new contracts but a lot can change in 6 years

Yes, both Rielly and Gardiner put up 50+ points this year. Those are extremely strong offensive numbers. If you had actually watched the playoffs, you would know that the Leafs were abused on the right side, where everyone is aware our d-men on that side are not stellar.

You're crazy if you think that teams are going to be able to shut down that depth in the middle/right-wing. Absolutely nuts. Teams had trouble shutting the Leafs down last year, and that was without adding a top-10 center. The issue is too many folks watched a total of 7 games of the Leafs last year where they played one of the strongest and hottest teams in the league beat the Leafs in 7 games - and they assume that they have the Leafs figured out.

I'd expect the Bruin series to be forgotten as quickly as the Washington one the year before seems to have been...but I know better of course.
The Leafs obviously choked when the lost in the 3rd period of game 7 to a team that was handily above them in the standings. People rewrite the timeline that the Leafs have been the favorites every year.

I don't know what you are trying to say but toronto was Favored to win. But Bergeron's line Dominated your First line completly.

Except it's not, because the Ehlers contract starts at the same time, and there is absolutely no way that both the team and the agent were not aware of what the cap would roughly be. It's not like Vegas just randomly appeared. They knew what was coming, and they knew it meant a substantial increase in the cap.
