At the start of the season, we looked at our centre depth and knew that all three of Suzuki, Kotkaniemi and Danault had to produce for the team to be ultra competitive. In the end, the only centre of the three that didn't disappoint is Nick Suzuki.

Over an 82 game schedule, here is their point total (pace) for this season.

Nick Suzuki- 82 GP- 20 Goals, 40 assists- 60 Points

Phil Danault- 82 GP- 8 Goals, 29 Assists- 37 Points

Jesperi Kotkaniemi- 82 GP- 8 Goals, 23 Assists- 31 Points

These type of numbers are his absolute floor IMO. He’s gonna be around a ppg next year and most, and might even approach higher than that. He’s showing he can be consistently great.

What makes Suzuki's numbers even more impressive was that he had a significant dip this year for a long period. With wingers and consistency, he's a 70+ point player. We just need KK or Poehling to be that 60 point+ two way center now.

It’s actually impressive that KK almost matched Phil’s production while getting such a revolving door of linemates and playing time.

Yeah I’m pretty confident that Nick will be closer to a 70-80 guy than a 60-70 guy. He got 60 in an inconsistent sophomore year. He’s on a really good trajectory right now. If he can maintain the sort of consistency we’ve seen recently he can be borderline elite.

Considering his defensive prowess as well, he’s well on his way to being a true 1C.

Real talk of Suzuki becomes an all situations 70+ point centre and KK becomes ~55- 60 point centre we are set.

Suzuki is already solid defensively and KK is better than most players his age (rember he is only 20 still) then we are looking pretty solid.

And honestly neither of those 2 possibilities seem out of the question. We have to remember when Suzuki entered the league he was about the same age KK was when this season started.

They are going to be a good 1-2 punch for us in the future and with Poehling doing well this year I have confidence he could become our 3C as well. If we assume Evans is the 4c we have 1 centre under 6ft and he is 5'11 200lbs cause he's built like a truck.

Just going to be missing a 3c and hopefully thats Poehling, he has everything that is needed for the type of 3C the Habs will need.

60 point pace, not bad upgrade on last year. If he can go next year without the gigantic dry spell we've got a good one.

It was a brutal schedule both mentally and physically. He likely wore down but his IQ and skill level was always there and will be in the future. Needs to work on getting quicker, more explosive but if you aren't excited about his future with us, you should find another sport imo.

The wall he hit through most of Feb and all of March,

23-4-5-9

the rest of the season,

33-11-21-32

His updated pace on an 82 game schedule would be:

82 GP- 22 Goals, 38 Assists- 60 Points.

You have to think next season he could hit 65-70 points as a 22 year old and eventually become a point per game player. I hope Caufield and him are attached at the hip next year. The Habs have their #1 centre. The problem right now is that there is no other offensive support from the other centres.

I wouldn't mind seeing Suzuki play at about 195-200 pounds. I think 208 pounds might be a tad heavy, especially over an 82 game schedule.

Being a PPG player is a definite possibility for the kid down the line , maybe as soon as next season. You couple that with being able to play solid two way minutes against a top line and we've got a real gem there. Getting him more regular linemates will be a key factor going forward.

With caufield at RW and another solid LW (?) with seize , absolutely

It'd be great if Luke Tuch could turn out to be even a poor man's version of his brother. A guy like that could do a lot of dirty work to create chances for Suzuki/Caufield.

He's basically been a high end number 1C for more than half the year.

Not bad for a sophomore.

without being sheltered too.
impressive.

Not only was he not sheltered, he's been the forward the team has most relied on.

Most minutes, played a shutdown role many times, played first wave PP, second wave PK. Often the first guy on 3 on 3s, always on when the team is down and they have a 6-5.

Guy's legit.

Such a strong finish to the regular season....10 games 6 goals and 13 points. Got to love that.
