When a player is penalized, all players at time of infraction are not allowed to change until his penalty expires. Kinda like how when you ice the puck, guys aren't allowed off.

Super tired players = higher quality chances for unpenalized team.

Player injuries might sky rocket though.

Coach players to play offense in pee see. Stop benching them when they make mistakes. This is a hockey problem not an NHL problem.

Still going with my idea of having the posts and crossbars slanted inwards.

Edit: Actually maybe it's slanted outwards.
Whatever.

Clone Dallas Eakins and let the clones coach half the teams in the NHL.

Enforce the rules like they did in 2005/06. Bring back the full 2 minute PP.

This. We know this works because when the refs started calling penalties for interference and obstruction games suddenly got a lot more interesting. Skilled players were allowed to play more and there was a lot of exciting attacks and counter-attacks.

Fans need to demand they bring back the game of hockey because I don't like watching wrestling.

Whistle board battles dead. You want players play down the middle, not muck it up at the boards. At the same time, widen the rink.
Make goals 2 feet higher. No more butterfly.

If you want more goals...or offense ...When a guys have a penality...The player stay all the penalty time on the penalty bench !

And let the goalie play around the net...

Its coming. Right now open ice hits no longer exist. Its because if you miss by a millimeter, you invariably cause a knee on knee or you reach out and grab .

Heaven forbid you actually hit squarely. Then your elbow hits his head. Oops. Suspension. Leave your feet? Double the suspension.

What is your reward if you manage to keep your elbows down, dont leave your feet, hit the player square when he has the puck?...........

A line brawl with you on the bottom. :amazed:

Since this 'no touch' ruling has been taking effect, the players are still big and cumbersome. For the last 2 years we have seen the return of mini players with sick skills who no longer get 'scott stevens-ed' into retirement.

Its just a matter of time where the NHL fills up with skill players capable of finding these new holes and a 130 to 150 point Mc David could be on the horizon by 2020.

Full 2 minute PPs.
No icing on the PK.
Actually call hooking/interference.
No hand passes in the D-zone.
Remove the trapezoid and not allow goalies to play the puck at all behind the goal-line.
Shape goal-posts so that the puck goes in more often than it goes out.

- Full 2 minute PP.
- Actually enforce penalties the way they're supposed to be enforced, regardless of situation, previous calls etc. Eliminate the BS politics of penalty calling.
- Enforce diving and embellishment more, if a penalty and embellishment is necessary on a play, call both making it 4 on 4.
- Overtime 5 minutes 4 on 4, 3 minutes 3 on 3. Eliminate the shootout (this has no effect on goal scoring, but it needs to go)
- Increase goal size proportionately. I don't know the measurements of a net, but I'd say 2-2.5 inches wider and at least 1 inch in height. The goalies are massive and cover way too much of the net. This should have been done 10 years ago.

get rid of the trapezoid for goalies so they can run wild and get creative with the puck and play it... will create more breakaways and more giveaways by the goalie. It will force teams to carry the puck in more and make it more exciting and not just boring dump and chase

The simplest and probably most impactful change would be to actually call obstruction penalties. It's gotten ridiculous what teams get away with these days and more and more teams are integrating it into their game plans. Re-emphasize speed and skill in the game again.

I like all these.

Maybe a smaller one could be players are allowed to score goals by kicking it in. Would really affect play, but would increase a teams goal total by around 5 goals a year. Its still skillfull

No icing on the PK is the dumbest idea. They will just ice it anyway and it'll slow the game down with a lot more stoppages.

Put the center ice red line back in (two line pass no longer allowed). All it's used for these days is to tip a puck in from center ice and allow the team to change. If teams had to skate the puck or make a pass before the red line in order to gain the red line and dump the puck, there would be more turnovers, tired players caught on ice for longer shifts and more goals.

Also instead of the 2nd period being the period of the long change, make it the first and third. Tired players pinned in their zone = more mistakes = more goals.
