Me: Was looking at the hits stat and noticed some interesting things as far as home/road splits go. Well, interesting to me, anyway. (All stats via NHL.com, all from this season unless specifically noted.)
Brandon Tanev leads the league in home hits per 60 mins TOI with 19.8. The Penguins as a whole lead the league with hits at home with 7.25/60 TOI.
Then you get to the road stats. Tanev is 41st in the league on the road with 14.51 hits per 60 mins, and the Penguins are 15th in the league on the road, with 4.22/60 TOI.
By comparison:
Vegas home - 2nd, 6.57/60, road - 12th, 4.34/60
Washington home - 7th, 5.52/60, road - 16th, 4.19/60
Tampa home - 12th, 4.40/60, road - 4th, 5/60
NYI home - 3rd, 6.21/60, road - 1st, 5.79/60
VAN home - 16th, 4.22/60, road - 31st, 3.36/60
NJD home - 4.20/60, road - 25th 3.74/60
You're more likely to get credited with at hit at home than on the road, especially if you play for the Penguins, and Vancouver's scorers try to keep up appearances at home, but the Canucks appear to be on the soft side.
I'm going to check historicals at some point, because this is what hockey nerds like me do for fun.
