Besides the ones already pointed out, the ones that jumped out at me were:

- Toews 92 = Malkin 92 and Stamkos 92? Is there an intangibles stat?

- Nash 90 and Gaborik 90 > Tavares 89?

- Couture 89 > Hall 88, P. Kane 88 and pretty much every other 88?

It's almost like EA took last year into account for some, and then just took reputation into account for others.

Hmm if you actually look at the players detailed stats it makes a lot more sense.

Defenseman (looking at the skills-based stats)

Player|SS Accuracy|SS Power|WS Accuracy|WS Power|Acceleration|Agility|Balance|Endurance|Speed|Deking|Hand-eye|Passing|Puck control
Karlsson|85|89|85|88|92|92|80|90|92|93|93|93|93
Weber|80|95|82|90|85|85|92|90|85|75|75|88|89
Chara|80|95|80|93|83|83|95|90|83|77|77|86|86
Burns|83|90|84|89|87|86|90|85|89|83|83|87|87
Letang|80|88|82|87|88|89|85|90|88|85|84|90|90

Makes a lot more sense when you look at it that way.

EDIT: Upon further review...looks pretty accurate.

EDIT2: Looks like Subban got a bit short-changed though IMO

This makes it look a lot better. Seems to me they are much more accurate when breaking down each attribute than what the overall indicates. Therefore it's whatever their equation is to find an overall that's maybe questionable, not their player rankings. After all, overall isnt an attribute and doesn't reallyt mean anything

Overalls don't mean much. Semin/St.Louis are as good as most of these players but their D/Physical attributes bring his overall down a lot. Those attributes also don't matter much.

Its really embarrassing that EA doesnt put a genuine effort into properly ranking the players. Its just a joke.

As a habs fan, pac and price are both too high and subban is too low. How is he worse than burns seabrook kronwall and letang. Letang is apparently better defensively than subban in this game. 87 speed for subban?? Cmon

I will say though it's not as bad as NHL 12, some 4th line grinders were rated 82-84 and weren't even the best 4th liners in the league. But still come on EA.

Kronwall? Burns? Seabrook? Voracek?

Sorry, forgot Voracek. Honestly I think that's pretty close for Kronwall. Burns isn't as good as his rating says except for when he's playing with Big Joe. And I really really like Seabrook so I guess I'm being a bit biased. I'd say more like 87 for him. Good call there!

Just edit the players according to what you think they should be. That's what I do because there are always players who are way off than what they should be in my opinion.

I like how Nash is a 90 but Vanek (whose career stats are very similar btw), after posting the best PPG season of his career and scoring 41pts in 38 games to Nash's 42 in 44, while playing on a significantly worse team in every way imaginable, isn't even on the list.

Also, on what planet is Carey Price a 90? That's as bad as when they had Miller at 92 last year.

That's what I do as well -- especially with prospects, since apparently only computer generated ones can ever be NHL ready out of the draft -- but it would be nice if EA could put out rosters that didn't take hours of fixing to make the game realistic.

Overalls don't mean jack; it is not an average. If you think they do, then you haven't played GM Mode in-depth. A few posters already correctly stated that some individual stats weigh more towards the overall.

Not as bad? It's way worse. We haven't even seen the fourth liner ratings in this game, but established fourth liners are typically 80-82, would expect more of that in this game.

IMO:

Subban-90
Karlsson-90 (better than subban but physical stats are really weighted heavily. Higher stats everywhere else)
Pac- 86
Price- 87
Kronwall- 86
Seabrook- 87
Burns- 86
Voracek- 86
Letang- 86 (hes terrible defensively the game shold reflect that)

lol @ Dan Girardi being an 88 and being ahead of McDonagh. EA hasn't watched a Rangers game in over a calender year.
