I never got a chance to land Wheeler but Okposo was awesome for me. Chris Stewart was always in the All Star game so I would have to say he plays well. Okposo usually signed a 1yr deal and then a 4-6 yr deal after that. Good luck!!!!

[fieldset="Sunday February 2nd 2014 - Emelin, Kristo to play against Boston"]
Good news for the Canadiens as the team announced that both Danny Kristo and Alexei Emelin will make a comeback tomorrow against the Boston Bruins. Etem and Pokka have both been sent down to Hamilton.[/fieldset]

[fieldset="Thursday March 6th 2014 - Trade deadline tomorrow ; What should we expect Bergevin to do ?"]
As it stands, the Montreal Canadiens are out of the playoffs with a record of 27 victories, 30 losses and 8 more losses in overtime. This places the team 13th in the Eastern Conference with 62 points, 7 points short of the 8th placed Ottawa Senators.

There have been many rumors lately about the Canadiens being sellers this year and not buyers like they were when they acquired Wheeler last season. [/fieldset]

[fieldset="Friday March 7th 2014 - Trade deadline - Plekanec traded to Dallas"]
Tomas Plekanec, who had 33 points so far this year, was traded to the Dallas Stars today at 2 PM. The Stars were looking to add a forward to help them push for a playoffs spot.

Montreal received prospects Jamieson Oleksiak and Aleksander Barkov, as well as a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick this year for Plekanec.

Plekanec said he was really sad to quit Montreal, but understands the organization's will to get younger and become a contender within the next few years. As of now, he will concentrate all his efforts to help the Stars go as far as possible.

The Canadiens also claimed Marcel Goc from the waivers as he was sent down by the Nashville Predators.

Habs' management is set to held a press conference later this afternoon at 4:30 to discuss these movements.[/fieldset]

Hey guys!
I sold my NHL the day after the Rangers got eliminated, and about a week ago was craving to play, so I borrowed the game from my friend, and started just a season. It is the end of December now, I have played every game, and the scores are pretty realistic! I'm 2nd in the east, with 44 pts. 21-9-2. Nash the goal scoring leader of my team with 12 goals, Richards with 15 assists, and Nash, Richard, Gaborik tied for a team high 19 points. I'ts fun!

2013 Draft Review: Vancouver Canucks
June 24, 2013

The Vancouver Canucks ended up with a top 10 pick in this year's NHL entry draft thanks to a trade from the previous year that came alongside Conn Smythe winner Devan Dubnyk. The Canucks, despite already having a lot of top prospects on the blueline, didn't hesitate to draft the best player available, defenseman Aaron Hoyles with the #6 pick. Hoyles, 18, is 6'0" and 194 lbs and is said to posses a very strong offensive game as well as smooth skating and good strength. There is some panic to his game currently, but the Canucks hope another year or two in the minors will give him the confidence to increase his poise.

The Canucks also had another two first round picks; their own, 30th overall, and another, 25th overall, that they picked up from Chicago in September in the Sergei Gonchar trade. With the 25th overall pick, the Canucks drafted 18-year-old, 6'2" 192 lbs center Jayden Hart, a highly-touted offensive forward with a magnificent shot. His defensive game does leave something to be desired and he needs to build his core strength more, but he projects to be a number one center some day.

The 30th overall pick was used to draft 18-year-old 6'2" 180 lbs right winger Carter Hansen. Hansen is a good all-around player with a good mix of offensive and defensive skills, but where he really shines is zipping around the ice. Hansen has great skating ability and endurance which should allow him to be an effective second or third liner in the NHL one day.

[fieldset="Saturday April 5th 2014 - Atkinson reaches 30 ; injures himself"]
Atkinson's season took end brutally when he scored his 30th goal of the season - a career high for him -. He fell awkwardly after deking Marc-André Fleury and knocked on the boards. He needed help to get up and go back to the locker. All signs point that it could be a broken ankle, and it is unlikely that he will play again this season with the Canadiens out of the playoffs run.

Emerson Etem has been called up.[/fieldset]

[fieldset="Monday April 14th 2014 - Disastrous end of the season for the Canadiens"]
The Montreal Canadiens concluded the season with a record of 32 wins, 42 losses and 8 overtime losses, after losing their last six games, all at home.

Emerson Etem also injured himself seriously in this last game against the Washington Capitals, and is expected to undergo surgery. It is unsure whether he will be ready for the start of next season.[/fieldset]

[fieldset="Tuesday June 10th - Rangers win the Stanley Cup !"]
The New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup after beating in 7 games the Vancouver Canucks. Rick Nash scored the OT Stanley Cup winning goal with 14 seconds left to play in the second overtime period. [/fieldset]

[fieldset="Saturday June 14th - Bergevin extended ; Hires Patrick Roy as coach"]
Today was a big day for the Montreal Canadiens organization.

First, they extended Bergevin's contract for 3 years. "We think Bergevin has done a great job making this team younger and ready to compete for the Stanley Cup in a close future. We like what he's doing and that is why we extended him. Although the results might not have been here during the past few seasons, we expect things to get much better this season. We're good to play in the playoffs again", said Canadiens owner Geoff Molson.

After this, Bergevin announced he had hired Patrick Roy to coach his young team. Roy previously coached the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL, with who he just won the Memorial Cup in Spokane. "Roy is definitely ready for the NHL", said Bergevin. "Although he has not coached at this level yet, we think he has enough experience as a coach - and especially as a player - already and we're willing to give him a shot. He's a fierce competitor that will do everything to win games and to motivate the players."

Patrick Roy has not been reached yet by the medias, as he is currently on vacation.[/fieldset]

DEVILS BEAT PANTHERS IN 5, SQUARE OFF AGAINST CAROLINA IN ROUND 2
:devils

After a seemingly easy first round, the Devils will be advancing to the second round for the first time in 3 years. Kovulchuk, Zajac and Greene all helped lead the team to the next round, each recording at least one point each game. Who really stood out was young right winger Sven Bartschi scoring three goals on eight shots, two of which were game winning goals.

CONFERENCE SEMI FINALS LINEUPS

[FIELDSET="ROUND PREVIEW"]
Statistically New Jersey should have the upper hand this round. However on paper Carolina has the more intimidating lineup. With a one to punch of Jordan and Eric Staal they finished third and fourth respectively in total points this season.

Wingers Ruutu and Jokinen were the biggest threat for the Canes last season each recording over 70 points and over 30 goals each. They should be quite a threat against the Devils. Goaltender Cam Ward has also been stellar for the Canes all year and is a candidate for the Vezina and Jennings trophy this year.

The Devils also have some high scoring players in Kovulchuk and Tedenby. Kovulchuk has been known to score when his team needs it. And is undoubtedly a star player in the entire league. He will be a threat all series as he was against Florida.

Larsson who only has one goal in 6 games this series, will likely break out next round. This is only his second playoff appearance in the last 4 years, and the pressure does take some time getting used to. Bobrovsky currently has a 1.99GAA and has stopped 169 of the last 181 shots against.

DEVILS GET BLOWN OVER BY THE HURRICANES
:devils

The Hurricanes offense was by far more superior then the Devils as far as playoff experience, and overall talent. Ward was a rock during the series recording a 1.47GAA and a .947SV%. Bobrovsky fell to the playoff pressure and relentless offense that was the Hurricanes in only five games.

Eric Staal jumped up to 14 points in 11 games recording 10 assists. Along with Semin and Skinner who moved up to 13 points in 11 games, Skinner who notched 8 goals was the most impressive player of this series.

'This was a great playoff run, we still need some tweaking and a few more playoff runs to gain some experience on this roster, but boy do we have some exciting players developing.'

Aw, Andrei Vasilevski's potential has fallen. :shakehead He's only an 83 overall with B,C,C potential now. Pretty strange, because I started him at 76 overall with B,B,B. I thought he would get a lot better or at least keep some potential after that playoff run, he played really well.

Playing well just helps the player gaining more experience points that are spent into some attributes by your assistant coach. Playing well or bad has nothing to do with the potential. Using a forward as an example, let's say both are the same : 18 years old, 80 overall, B B B potential.
The first one could have 80 goals, 100 assists for 180 points in 82 games and the next year he could be at 83 C C B- ;
The second one could have 0 goal, 0 assist for 0 point in 82 games and the next year he could be at 82 A A B.

Oh.

I'm just annoyed that his potential dropped so quickly. :laugh: Hopefully he still turns out to be a good goalie. Otherwise, I'll have to find a new one. Niemi has been terrible lately.

He could always get a better potential next year. For instance, I was pretty "upset" when Ryan Murray dropped from A- B A- to B- B A- in my Habs dynasty... but I'm at the draft right now and noticed he has a freaking B A A potential. ._.

I always save right before the cup is awarded, and then just quit without saving and re-sim until I get decent enough results. Ryan Miller got old fast for me (dropped to 92 E by my 4th season), so having my goalie prospects' potential drop was a massive downer.

I would've try to trade Miller in the 2nd or 3rd season for a younger goalie with loads of potential (Allan ? Lehner ?) and let Enroth do the job until he's ready. In my case, I have Price (93 C C C), Subban (80 B A B) and M. Murray (74 A- B B)... Shouldn't have any issue with the goalies. :p: /omgimrevealingpotentialwhenididntwantto

[fieldset="Saturday June 21st 2014 - Kristo brings the Calder home"]
For the second year in a row, a rookie from the Montreal Canadiens has won the Calder Memorial Trophy. After Jonathan Huberdeau last year, it is now forward Danny Kristo that will bring the trophy home. "I'm surprised", said Kristo, "but I'm extremely proud. It's an honour for me to succeed to my teammate and great friend Jonathan Huberdeau. There are many great young players in the league and I'm proud to be considered to best of the newcomers this year", concluded Kristo. Despite having only 29 points in 69 games, Kristo impressed by his excellent defensive play and his leadership qualities. He even apparently earned 6 votes in the Frank J. Selke Trophy ballot according to Bob McKenzie.

There are no doubts that Kristo became an important part of the Montreal Canadiens core this year with his dynamic play.[/fieldset]

[fieldset="Sunday June 22nd 2014 - Montreal Canadiens win the Draft Lottery !"]
The Canadiens' fans couldn't get more excited. After a disastrous season by the team, that finished 27th in the league, it seems that they will have the possibility to add to their ranks one of the most hyped prospect since Sidney Crosby in Connor McDavid.

Indeed, the NHL draft lottery was held today and it was announced that the Canadiens won it, moving them to pick 1st overall in this year's draft. We understand that their general manager Marc Bergevin was extremely excited since he only had a 10.7% chance of drafting first. "We are extremely happy to have the chance to add a franchise player we've been missing on our team since so many years. We have extremly good young players, and adding a players the caliber of a 1st overall pick will not hurt", said Bergevin.[/fieldset]

I was able to draft Ekblad. He sucked in my first GM but did really well in the next GM. I'm sure McDavid was created in your GM. What team did you have him assigned to?

Yeah McDavid, although a 2015 draftee (same with Barzal) are in my custom rosters that I made for PS3 (that you can download on the OperationSports forum). I made him with a very high potential and so that he is a franchise player (drafted him at 86 A B A-), and assigned him to the Erie Otters. Ekblad from what I saw was 77 (74 poise) with a A- B B- potential (made him with a B A- B potential initially)
I think I will need to edit Keven Bouchard though... always go top-5. :laugh:
