I always question when these big time athletes get strange, serious injuries around the house. I wonder if it's a contractual or insurance related thing...can't admit you hurt yourself doing X, so claim you "fell at home".

Yup. There have been guys busted for lying, can't remember specific examples.

Ernie did... good? How did he get someone to take on Otto's contract for two expiring contracts? And, for I think the first time in his tenure, he acquired a 2nd round pick instead of trading one away.

Can’t believe Grungus has been allowed to do multiple trades in an obvious lame duck year. Can’t argue with the tank tho. They have arrived at the obvious conclusion far too slowly, but it’s better late than never.

The Wizards have been garbage for 40 years. It's amazing a franchise is that inept over 4 decades. Not even the Caps were that inept, heck, the Caps routinely made the playoffs until the Adam Oates final year.

Ernie Grunfeld accounts for 16 of those years. SIXTEEN. I don't know how Ted Leonsis is so blind.

He's mostly a caps man.

?? He wanted the Wizards foremost.

He tried to buy the Wizards from Abe Pollin. Abe sold him the Caps instead. If Ted showed Abe that he could run the Caps franchise decently, Ted could purchase the Wizards after Abe died.

Sad the moves were just made to avoid the luxury tax and nothing to do with improving the future

Not totally true. If they brought Porter back they'd have something like $90mm committed to four players next year. One of those players is hurt (Wall), one of those players is terrible and unplayable (Mahinmi), one of those players has regressed significantly (Porter), and one of those players is worth his money (Beal). By clearing out Porter's money they can re-sign some of their important RFAs like Sato, Bryant, Dekker, etc.

All this to say, Ted needs to call Beal into his office today and ask what he wants to do. Assuming Wall is lost for all of next year and will never be the same player again, Ted needs to ask Brad if he wants to have the team rebuilt around him or does he not have the patience for a painful rebuild? It all centers around Beal now and Ted needs to know if he's in or out.
