Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar Vs Jack Eichel and Rasmus Dahlin going forward?

Which tandem do you choose for the future?

There is a big gap between MacKinnon and Eichel imo. One can carry a franchise and is a mvp runner up. MacKinnon is closer to McDavid than Eichel. Results speak for themselves.

The gap between Dahlin and Makar is a lot bigger though, a lot.

Got to wait for Makar to at least play a full season in NHL.

Eichel has averaged a higher career PPG with worse players, just two seasons ago he scored more then Mackinnon having missed an entire two months while Mack played the whole year, and it was eichels second season ever as 19-20 year old kid who just returned from a sprained ankle.

The gap between dahlin and makar is bigger then Eichel and Mackinnon making this a no brainer.

Last year Mack got 99 pts with Rantanen a guy who before him, he never got over 64 pts, Jack hit 82 in 77 (Mack never got even 65 at eichels age) Eichel was the only player in the top 25 in scoring this year to not have a single Teammate score over 63 points.

In the last three years despite being on the lowest scoring teams has scored 201 Pts in his last 203 games. That’s remarkable for a player from
Year 2-4. When Mackinnon was on the lowest scoring team does anyone remember his point total in a full Season? Pretty sure it was 53 points.

But I’m biased of course and I’m sure that’s the reason people will ignore the facts above. Not enough of these boards have actually watched enough of Eichel and see how he dominates, once he’s given playoff coverage and more fans see him do this thinf (like they have gotten the chance to see Mack The last two years and playing on the best line helps) this poll could be a landslide....Is what I thought until I realized Makar will be a very good dman. So not a landslide however the answer should still be the buffalo tandem but close.

Went with Buffalo just so they can lead the poll, even though they are my choice regardless. I just dont want a certain someone to come in, see that Buffalo is losing the poll, and post 1000 words of blabbering Eichel-ness.

Whatever will this world do without facts.

Hope it was short enough for you.

Heaven forebid all the TOP 3 player!!!! “Close to mcdavid!!! Mackinnon jive take up every post.

Upward trend? He’s been effectively dead flat the last 3 years when you adjust for the overall scoring increase league wide.

Dead flat?

201 Pts in 203 games the last three seasons playing against the best defensemen each shift? Before going down to injury in December had more multi point games (17) then anyone in the league not Rantanen or Mackinnon and that’s dead flat?

0.95 PPG in second and third seasons despite returning from sprained ankles both years on teams 31st overall in offense and standings is dead flat while last year averaging over a point per game? You clearly know nothing about what your taking about, the sabres are abysmal when he’s not on the ice and when he is the entire game changes for them, he only played 1/4 a game so of course the team still sucks, look at mcdavids team. It’s nice Mack has a top line and a team around him too now and they’re having some success. Please be at least accurate when a guy has improved each season and is the only player in the top 25 in scoring last year to not have a teammate score over 63 points or even 65 points.

I'll go with the Avs duo

MacKinnon is much better than Eichel and goes full beast mode in big games. Makar is going to become one of the best Dmen in the league imo.

What was the problem in Buffalo? Franchise C and Conn Smythe winning #1C behind him. A solid top line winger in Kane.

Is there a locker room cancer holding them back?

Dahlin.
He’s going to be the best of the group. I see a bigger gap between him and Makar than MAC and Eichel when all is said and done.

The problem is there are 20 players in a lineup

Generational C depth. Some good top line wingers in Skinner Kane and Reinhart.

Solid defense led by Risto and now Dahlin.

Their entire bottom 6 must be marginal AHLers if they couldn't finish outside the basement.

Kane and Skinner weren’t on the team at the same time. Dahlin was a rookie and Risto is not a top pair guy.

Time will tell but Makar looks like the sky is the limit and is being passed off . Dahlin has already proved so i would lean towards him but the gap will close this year between the two .

Not to mention never having a starting goalie, a coach, either at the NHL level or any depth at defense or forward.

Love it when fans think hockey is like the NBA though and if your team doesent win it’s because those top four players must be the problem. Especially the guy was 19-21 years old at the time.

Pretty easily buffalo duo for me. Dahlin May one day be the best player of them all.
Mackinnon already is the best player in the world if you dont count McDavid, and while possible, its unlikely that Dahlin gets room to sleep between McD and MacK in their very own kingsize bed in the Highest Tier mansion

AVs duo, but it really is close.

Mackinnon is just simply better than Eichel. You can spout off any stats, but was playing on some terrible teams until the turnaround which he contributed. Eichel played with and sheltered with ROR.

Dahlin is better than Makar. Question is the gap greater than the 1Cs? Makar was dominant in the playoffs, College, Hobey Baker, and WJ. He could be even better, but until he plays a full season, Dahlin is just much better.

Honestly, the gap between the DMen is greater than the 1Cs. If Makar continues to improve after a stellar playoffs and college seasons, this easily tilts to the AVs.

Do people realize only one year separates Mackinnon and Eichel?

Why are people comparing their early years so much. Mackinnon played his first full season at 18 while Eichel did it at 19. Wouldn’t it make more sense to compare their recent years as its relative to today’s NHL. What do 18 and 19 year old seasons have to do with these two as they approach their mid 20’s?

Nathan Mackinnon is one year older than Jack Eichel. If everybody is so certain that Eichel is going to continue to get better, why can’t Mackinnon?

Eichel had 82 points in 77 games last year as a 22 year old. Mackinnon scored 97 points in 74 games at that age.
