I wonder if we'll get blue comfy swivel rocker chairs to replace the ones we had in the loges last year.

I still can't get my head around why the hell they would allow office chairs up there in the first place. Can you imagine if someone had too much to drink and got mad at a call and tried to toss the chair into the ice? That could end in disastater. From a safety standpoint just don't see why they would take a risk like that.

Anything that cuts down my Motley Crüe exposure is more than welcome.

Ps- black and blue and I judge you if you think otherwise.

More Crue, less Autotune.

You can make that dress any colours you want digitally. This incarnation is clearly blue and gold. Anyone that sees it differently has chromosomal deficiencies, and probably thinks it's wrong to put meat in their grilled cheese sandwiches.

People get drunk and fall out of upper decks. Should we just close off all upper decks everywhere as being too dangerous? Stop trying to invoke the nanny state to come and protect you from everything. The most likely scenario is other fans nearby jumping in to prevent the chair from being thrown.

It's no different from stools? less risk than big comfy chairs or tables

Plus these things seem to be the norm

Who the hell is invoking a "nanny state"? I just find it odd that they wouldn't have fixed seating like the Bomber loges. Looks better, likely more comfortable, can be placed strategically to limit obstructing people behind, and takes all risk away. Just makes more sense to me that's all.

Nailed it.

Back on topic, I'm really curious as to why TN thought an organ was an efficient use of funds at this point.

TNSE is hauling in about 6 million a year in casino revenue from the Shark Club that has to spent on arena improvements as per their agreement with the province of Manitoba.

For me it is the best upgrade yet! I am glad they got it. I even suggested it in the season ticket holder survey. Perhaps others did as well.

It can change the atmosphere when done properly. Many teams in the league have one!

I have loge seats at MTS, and I have sat in the fixed loge seats at IGF. There is no comparison, my chair is far more comfortable. Fixed seats would not stop the leaners, who are the main source of obstructed views. However, they would prevent the responsible loge dwellers from sliding back to create a better view for those behind. So, there could be more obstruction overall. Also, things are pretty tight in there, so when I have to get in and out of my chair, it requires some rolling around so there is enough clearance for me to get my legs around. Fixed seats would make it a much more unpleasant experience, and needlessly.

Finally, what about the chairs in the suites? I've been to some corporate sponsored events in those where the booze is free and people have gotten a lot drunker than anyone I've seen in the stands. I would be more worried about a chair being tossed out from one of those than anything raining down from the loges.

Probably because there were lots of ST holders (like me) that asked for it.

Don't expect everyone to agree, but I think live organ music is great.

Yup, tradition is cool, so organ in Chicago makes sense, here is waste of time and money

More than half the rinks in the NHL have live organists. It's a cool thing that adds to the atmosphere, IMO.

Didn't realize that the office chair style was that wide spread! Which arenas are those?

Console energy center in Pittsburgh, Amelia arena In Tampa and Whereever the blue jackets play. But even Minnesota and Carolina have done this same thing. True North just did what everyone one else did.

Ditto. I had the pleasure of sitting in the loge seats for the Blink-182 concert in July and the view is second to none. Also, those chairs are large and it would be difficult to throw onto ice. Someone could conceivably throw it into 100/200 level but considering the type of people who can afford/frequent loge seating, I doubt they would do something like that. SSH would probably lose their tickets after something like that.

As poster above stated, night and day between these and bomber seats. Bomber seats actually cost about the same but the experience and setting are much better at MTSC.

This is a popular misconception - I don't know where it started but it sure seems to have legs.

True North had envisioned an arena of 11-12,000 only until the IHL / AHL merger. It wasn't Murray or Doer who changed their thinking. It was True North's meeting with Gary Bettman during the IHL / AHL merger talks that caused True North to take a decidedly different approach.

I've often wondered if it was Doer and Murray's political machines that put out the story that they were responsible for the 15000 arena. It was a politically astute move if it was. But it's not accurate.

There would not have been a 15,000 seat arena without the funding from the 3 levels of government, including the province and city. The city's and province's negotiation with True North for the location and the funding for the arena was kept rather hush-hush until it was released to the public suddenly in November or December of 2000. Without the help of those two key individuals, the arena would have been built at another site and would not have been a 15,000 - seater.

What I'm saying is that in 2001 or whatever I'm sure true north only had 40M (regardless of pricetag) to bring to the table. I'm sure MTSC was an ambitious project from what they originally had in mind

True North did not have $40 million to bring to the table. They would not have built a 7,000 seat arena for a city of 700,000 that would have trouble drawing a-list concerts.

Federal, provincial, and civic funding would almost certainly have been available regardless of who was sitting in the big chair(s) at the time. My point is not one of funding source - it's one of idea germination, intent and direction. The idea of building a 15,000 seat NHL-ready arena was born from a meeting between Chipman and Bettman. What followed was a natural progression of that idea from concept to reality.

The concept didn't come from Doer or Murray or any other politician though. It came from Bettman and Chipman's meeting during the IHL / AHL merger.

How about a standing room area? Like the flightdeck at Rogers Center. I'm not sure if it could be done, but an open area encircling the entire arena near ceiling level would be awesome. Sitting in your seat is boring as ****

What's your excuse?
Lighting is a *****.

In both those situations the "Real colour" is basically an optical illusion.

If you just take the colour of the dress, isolate it in paint, its gold and white (Well, with a tint of blue in the white to be fair). The dress in real life is black and blue though.

same thing is happening in the jets image, although, ironically, I believe its due to lack of light as opposed to the excess light that caused the great dress kerfuffle of 2015
