Last few posts in that thread:

Are they done with installing the blue seats?

So I was just at the MTS Centre cause they asked me to switch seats (I'm in the top row of 317). Rep told me it was due to them losing a seat or two cause of a "top secret" part of the renovations. But that I was switching seats for the greater good.

Now I could be totally seeing things but I'm pretty sure the seats at the top of the stairs between 315 and 316 were removed and there was a like a hole up there. But maybe I was seeing things cause wouldn't that be outside the building

If you look at an aerial shot of MTSC, you can see how the seating bowl doesn't take up the entire footprint of the building. Maybe they're building something on that corner section of the roof at the bottom left (that's where 315/316 are located)?

Edit: Maybe this is a better view of the area I'm talking about. They'd need to relocate some equipment... https://www.google.ca/maps/place/16...221d167d89e5f9!8m2!3d49.8963172!4d-97.1368358

Talk about cramming. I'm all for it though! It seems like it could be a cool addition.

There's already four corners to choose from.

A place for an organ to be installed?

The area was really unfinished but the size and scope would work and the fact they haven't advertised it would make it seem like it was something on the minor side.

Agreed, no issues whatsoever with going to the washroom in the upper deck anymore. Your in and out within 3 minutes.

I thought they opened up the event level washrooms in the lower bowl a couple of years back which was supposed to alleviate some of the problems?

Carry on.

I already mentioned in the other thread that I wonder if it's to make room for the Queen portrait that recently sold to an anonymous purchaser. It's only 16' high. Take out a couple of rows out and you may be able to squeeze it into the remaining space. :)

Outdoor rooftop access for smokers?

That is exactly the corner where 315 is located. Across the street from the Tavern rooftop patio! Perhaps they'll be connecting it to TN Square somehow. Either way, a coveted corner of the upper bowl to be in if there's some surprise going on there.

Also, on the topic of the lack of fanfare and advertisement of this update, perhaps it's because it won't really be completed until next off season when they'll officially announce it? :sarcasm:

A smoking/outdoor space is the most likely renovation/addition. I'll be fairly choked if they do this to prevent people from exiting the building. I take my concession money over to the Met during intermission. Partly due to beer prices half that of the MTS center, and artly due to TN having lost my business years ago due to capitalistic policies (they get my season ticket money ONLY).

I can't see this happening. Can you imagine how people would be coming up and
down the section to leave.

I think they are installing an organ. Chipman mentioned he would look into it at the end of last season.

I have literally no idea what this means.

Yet by continuing to pay them for season tickets, they have not actually lost your business. And if you are so opposed to their capitalistic policies, do you not feel like you are compromising your moral principles by doing this? Could you not make more of a statement by sending them a letter informing them that you will not be continuing with your STH commitments, and provide a list of reasons that have forced you to take this action?

Jeez, give the guy a break. Nothing wrong with loving your team but drawing the line at paying outrageous prices for insultingly poor beer.

Not all beer at MTSC is "insultingly poor". Goose Island IPA and Honker's Ale are quite decent. Is paying $10 for them outrageous? I guess it's all relative. I don't hear many complaints about paying some of the highest ticket prices in the league, but God forbid you should pay $5 more than a bar across the street for a beer.

Thats a very succinct way of saying something similar to what he said

Well to be fair the original fellow hasn't illustrated which 'capitalistic policies' he's objecting to. It might just be beer prices but the tone suggests a more philosophical grievance.

Back to the subject at hand: There's been a LOT of upgrades at MTS since 2011. Extended press box, restrooms, loge seating, scoreboard, sound system, seat replacement. I'm not sure how much more there is that they could do.

From my perspective the biggest problems remain in place and remain unsolvable. The seats are tight and there's gridlock in the concourses during intermission. Those problems aren't going away. Given that, I'm curious what the next round up MTS Centre upgrades will be.

Not much can be done about the seats. They are tight. I have just come to accept that a Jets game is not about absolute comfort, instead it is about the game and the atmosphere. But they are tight seats.

Adding those bars in the corners could only help with the congestion in the concourse. People hanging out in there instead of in the concourse itself. Although I am not sure what else they could do I wouldn't be too surprised if there are further improvements to that.

I thought that something they were looking to do (and have started with the seat colors) was to make the MTS Centre look like the home of the Winnipeg Jets. The concourse getting painted with Jets colors, etc... Chipman mentioned something like that on 1290 a while back.

Been inside MTS center for work recently.....the blue seats are pretty much all in for 300 & 200. It's a different material than the green, like a vinyl I guess. Video boards going up everywhere in the concourses. They cut out a section of wall above 317/318 in the seating area overlooking the ice... It's a small room, and based on the building layout the back walls line up with the Tower bar on the 300 concourse. Haven't heard what's going up there, but that corner doesn't lead anywhere outside, so it's just an open void. Someone in the last thread said organ player? I'll buy that, but no one I talked to knows what its for. If they couldn't fit the queen picture before, that reno certainly won't accommodate it.

Thanks for the update.

I'm not sure why we need an organ player.

I was at the MTS Centre yesterday, am now part of a season ticket share in section 314. Five years on the waiting list finally done!

Not much else to add other than the section of new grey seats in section 329 for the True North logo. Pretty neat to see in the empty MTS Centre...obviously won't translate when people are in the seats.

Haha, cute. Alllll I am saying is that I am a fan of the Winnipeg Jets, not TN. The people in my season ticket pool would kill me if i gave up my seats. But by all means, keep spending over ten bucks a beer. That's your choice and I won't judge you for it. I choose to walk across the street and spend $4.50 :).

Haha A beer? No no no. An extra $5 per beer x 5-10 beers per game x roughly 30 games a season I go to (plus whatever the woman is drinking) sure adds up. I'm just a blue collar schlump. Too rich for my blood. Especially with a half priced option a 90 second walk away. I don't believe TN would be offended that I choose to spend my concession money elsewhere. Not too sure why you are.

He did mention that but also said they wouldn't be able to get that done for this season.

Sorry I got a bit snarky. If you're drinking that many beers, I can understand wanting to go for wholesale pricing. I only drink a couple at the game, so the savings to be had aren't worth the added bother for me.
