Is this so? NHL.com says any third year professional is eligible to need protection.
10+ games in the NHL regulation season if you're 18-19 on Sept 15 or 10+ games in any professional league regulation season if you're 20 or older on Sept 15 constitue a year of experience.

So him playing a few games now does not make him eligible for the Seattle draft.

I've watched a few games with him and he HAS good Hockey IQ he just needs more seasoning. I think the Habs have an up and coming franchise player on their hands.
Poehling, Suzuki, KK and Domi will probably be the new core and each of them will be a franchise player in their own right. The future looks bright. The Habs are finally turning the corner, stacked at C with Danault down the middle. If only Drouin could live up to expectations.

Puljujarvi was a wjc mvp at 17 years old.... He's tearing it up rn right?
Poehling and Pulju are nothing alike. Pulju was a WJC MVP before he even got drafted and then got ruined by the Oilers. Poehling was drafted by the Habs and then developped into a WJC MVP. Not the same. They also don’t play the same positions or have similar playing styles for that matter.

.... He's not comparing the players. Just saying that WJC MVP is not a good argument for arguing a prospects upside. Which is true. Anything can happen. Doesn't mean Poehling is going down Puljujarvi road.

Whats the point? There are 4 games left, no playoffs, just bring him in next season.

apparently part of the agreements to sign right now, makes him burn a ELC year right away, Most NCAA guys do it. Better than losing him for free in the loophole.

My only concern is he injured himself last week, missed 1 game, came back in the elimination game and apparently didn't look like himself at all.

Puljujarvi had/has a very high upside, he just hasnt reached it

Just been poorly developed by a shitty Oilers organization. Key point is 17yrs old. Should have left him to develop more. Poehling is 20yrs old and has a sound 200ft game.

No he doesn't.

You should probably watch another sport, because you're basically bragging about not having a clue about this one. Or you're talking out of your ass.

There are things that will prevent Poehling from being a star in the NHL, but lack of hockey IQ is definitely not one of them.

I don't think Habs fans are expecting Poehling to be an offensive powerhouse. We're expecting a big 2 way center that can contribute at both ends of the ice. I would like to think that he'll be able to hit on about 50ish (a little more or a little less) points a year. You can call that a number 2 or number 3 center, but in the end it really doesn't make much of a difference.
