Apparently in Peehling's case, due to his age, waiver-eligibility is not affected by the burning of a year of ELC.Not that they're remotely similar players, but the Daniel Sprong situation in Pittsburgh was thanks to burning a year off of his ELC, which resulted in him being waiver eligible in his 2nd season instead of his 3rd and being stuck in that limbo of not being good enough to play for the Penguins, but unable to develop in the minors without being claimed.
