I will never understand the hype around the Brodie-Giordano pairing. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but it's way overhyped.

And my pick for underrated, as it is every time this thread shows up, is Vladislav Namestnikov.

From our rivals, Brodie is one of the most overrated in the league while Tanev is one of the most underrated. Elsewhere, Backstrom is criminally underrated

They definitely were but they aren't that calibre anymore. They're probably rated pretty fairly at this point

Yes, I agree. But even a couple of years ago when they weren't at their peak, they didn't get their due as elite players

Have always felt Brent Seabeook was overrated.

Couple of underrated players that come to mind: Pat Maroon, Nick ritchie, Jason Garrison, Marcus Johansson, Jeff Petry, Mark Pysyk (big time), Jake McCabe

Niakanen and Gardiner are some good ones. There are a lot of very good, underrated defenseman.

Underrated: Derick Brassard and Bryan Little

Both have been borderline 1C's for years while not being overpaid. Yet, both are players you rarely hear of.

Overrated: Roman Josi

He has some SERIOUS deficiencies in his d-zone game. A great player nonetheless but not a real #1 right now. Great contract though so Nashville shouldn't be too concerned. Subban + Josi + Ellis + Ekholm to me doesn't seem like a balanced top 4.

What a coincidence, seriously I was just watching Perry and thinking this guy can be brutal sometimes. Just don't make him mad I guess.

Forgot Blake Wheeler for underrated. My goodness, that man is good at ice hockey.



Saw him play the Rangers in exhibition and he blew me away (eye-test) but it's exhibition and anyone can have one good game, so out of curiosity I looked, and his corsi is crazy good.

I think the Devils found something there. I know he's 27 but it's hard for French players to get exposure being a country that doesn't produce much.
