I really like deGrom and I wish him well.

I hope he is a Yankee one day, but I'm sure Mets fans don't want to hear that :P

Mets have to win a WS with Jake. They got the SP. With....:

Jacob deGrom
Carlos Carassco
Marcus Stroman
Noah Syndergaard
Taijuan Walker

There’s core pieces in the pen with Diaz, Lugo, Castro, Loup, Peterson, May. Add at least one elite arm and you’re set.

I love JD’s offense but he’s not for this team. Good thing is value for an AL team may be desirable to a certain extent. I’d rather Guillorme starting for here on out. Because having Guillorme/Lindor/McCann as our defensive specialist is a huge. Until the DH is officially back in action Mets defense is subpar. Put Smith at 1B, and move Nimmo & Conforto to the corner OF and get someone that can play centerfield at an elite level would put our defense top 5. The Mets will be an extremely difficult team for anyone to beat.

Also fire Rojas if you really want to be competitive. I don’t think Sandy will bring him back. Being someone in with experience.

Boom. Champions. Not too far of.. can get this sorted out with trades this season.

When there's a big-time player in a contract year, it's always interesting to see how they respond. I feel like some guys take the "I'm definitely going to free agency" approach because their agents tell them to and end up being affected by the uncertainty that sits in front of them. Some guys of course thrive in that situation and turn in huge years. You gotta wonder if Conforto is one of those guys who does better when he's settled and has a hard time when things are up in the air for him. He sucks at everything right now.

Yankees win behind a great pitching performance by Cole.

I love Erik Kratz. Recent tweets by him about the Yankees:

Can we please make Higgy full time? Sanchez is a bum in all aspects of baseball right now. I think the early recognition and praise ruined him

I also agree that they need lax the stupid facial hair policy and upright citizen bullshit. Let the damn players express themselves... They aren't mortgage brokers

Apparently this mentions a trade to the Angels.

I just don't think they are a good trade partner. Trading Judge really only helps the Yankees if it's a star-for-star trade. They aren't trading Trout or Ohtani and I don't like Judge for Rendon.

Why? Rendon is MVP type player. I'd trade Judge for him in a heartbeat. Angels would never do it.

Rendon is 30 and gets paid almost $200 million until he is 36. I think the Angels would definitely do it, but it is very high-risk for the Yankees.

Aaron Judge is 1 year younger and will get a big contract as well. It may very well be bigger than Rendon's.
Judge turned 29 yesterday I think. Still on his 1st contract which is crazy compared to most guys his age. The college route + taking a while to make it to the majors can make it tough to get paid and capitalize on youth, which is attractive to most teams these days. Obviously his significant history of injuries will be a hinderance as well.

Yeah I don't know who the Yankees would even want for Judge who the Angels would part with. Don't both teams need pitching?
The stuff I read said that discussions never really got far, because of this--there wasn't really a match given both teams would ideally want to add pitching.

I think deGrom would have been 32 for his last arbitration season while Judge will be 30. Judge will get a big contract, just a matter of where. Even playing 100 games a season he outproduces a lot of players with big contracts, like Bryce Harper.

Amazing, 32 is nuts for the 1st taste of FA. Mets really got a tremendous deal by signing deGrom early though, likely because he knew his age would have been a hinderance (not with the numbers he's producing though which are lol) and he's getting better with each passing year too, a throwback to when pitchers pitched without a gazillion restrictions and their shoulder and elbow joints somehow managed to stay firmly attached

Judge isn't a UFA until 2023. He has quite a bit of value right now because of that along with his good numbers. Either trade him if the right deal comes along or let him go when he's a UFA like St. Louis did with Pujols. If they had to decide today, by no means should the Yankees re-sign Judge.

Judge for Rendon isn't terrible, I just think there are positions the Yankees have a bigger need in than 3B (including pitching) and they need a good left-handed hitter more than another right-handed hitter. There are probably better deals out there.

There is no way you let Judge walk. That's just bad asset management. You either give him an extension or you trade him.

At some point the only deals available may be for prospects, and Judge will help the Yankees more playing for them than being traded. Exact same thing happened with Pujols. He was important in their 2011 World Series win.

And please let Higashioka start.
