They said Wheeler was the first pitcher this season to throw a 100 MPH pitch and record a hit with a 100 MPH exit velocity in the same game this year. Or something like that. They called him this year's first "100/100" pitcher. What a weird stat, LOL.

Green’s fast ball is getting smashed even at good locations when he can occasionally hits one, and he’s dishing up meatball spinners too. Needs to go down and get his problems sorted with AAA

During the broadcast they also mentioned that Mets pitchers struck out 10+ and walked none 16 times since 2010 but none did this from 2001-2010 (not sure of exact years) .

Hopefully this Mets-Phillies series is a sign of the season to come. Because this Philly team seems to be really fragile.

Harper tossed, the whole team whining about the rain delay and umpire, Arrieta calling out Harper. Then Hoskins claiming Rhume threw at him last night. Just excuses and whining all over. That's all in the last 48 hours.

Harper getting tossed the other day was hilarious because he was still vocally griping about balls/strikes like 4 batters after he got put down.

I haven't watched much of Green last year or this one but most relievers seem to have a short shelf life. Their stuff isn't closer material but it's good enough to trick hitters for a season or two before they finally catch up and start to tee off on them. It's kinda rare for a reliever to spend most of his career putting up Green-like numbers and not end up a closer or be a lefty specialist.

I feel like even closers have this happen to them. There's an elite group of closers that will hang for a few years and everyone else is a crapshoot.

I'm no expert but usually you end up in the bullpen because you only have 2 or 3 pitches. They're good enough to get you into the league and trick hitters but eventually after enough innings and film you get ate up. All the elite closers have an out pitch they're known for. Mo with the cutter, Chapman with his fastball, does Green have that kind of pitch?

And by your quote it sounds like he's tipping his pitches and his confidence is gone.

Like I said earlier in the thread. He only has one pitch. A high spin rate 95+ fastball. His off speed pitches have always been junk and that's why he was transitioned to the BP. His fastball has lost a tick this year and that, coupled with batters not having to fear his other pitches, have led to this years results. This reminds me of Phil Hughes who had that one great year in 09 as the setup man for Mo. His FB played up in that role and he just relied on it.

Look at the Bour grand slam at-bat. Tried to pitch him up in the zone with FB and actually had him late on the FB but then threw a meatball (Slider? Change up?) right down the middle. Whatever, he's down to the minors now and we'll see if he can ever get back up.

Also, unfortunately for DJ LeMahieu.....regression is a bitch.
