Hundreds more given his level...

Anatoli f***ing Firsov is not in. Arguably one of the best ~50 or so players ever.

Lowe is not top 500 ever.

Firsov is the one that bothers me the most both for hockey reasons and timing ones. This isn’t a guy who was unseen.

We’re talking about the likely 4th or 5th best player ever outside of the NHL. I can at least understand struggling with how to rank the CSSR contenders like Holecek, Nedomansky, and Martinec, but even having a small Hall preference as I do, Firsov passes every reasonable threshold.

This is exactly why I said that the HoF and player awards are worthless. They’re decided by idiots.

What this also tells me is that Giroux doesn’t have a good chance to get in - even though he clearly deserves it - unless he wins at least one cup, because individual quality of play is undervalued and number of cups is severely overrated. In other words, what the player has control over doesn’t matter and what he can’t control is what decides it. Smart.

As usual #hockeyguys prove that they don’t have a clue what they doing, what they’re watching, or what they’re talking about. Put this memory on the shelf for the next time someone wants to appeal to authority.

I agree. How can anyone say that is a fair trade? Sure let’s tear down the depth the Flyers have for one very good player.
I hang up the phone as they are saying Travis Konecny .
I had to look and now it's up to Skinner full salary for Gostibehere. Not a done deal though as the one guy thinks Gostibehere is too soft.

Eichel’s the best player amongst all those but there’s no individual in the NHL more valuable than that collection of players especially in the salary cap era.

Eichel by himself wasn’t greater than the contributions of Konecny, Voracek, & Frost/Farabee just this past year in a career year.

You just traded a decent chunk of your current roster & going forward for one player. You’re only freeing up about $4-5M or so in cap in that move too.
And to be clear to you or others that didn't see it on the main boards, I personally did not offer that, someone else did.

I just saw it, shook my head, and then relayed the info.

Didn’t Lowe arrogantly say one time he knew a thing about winning when building those dog shit Oilers teams?

He most certainly did. He also jumped in after MacTavish already answered the question, started it off with a statement along the lines of, "We have two types of fans -- season ticket holders and *pained faces* those that just sit home and watch hockey. One of those is more important than the other," before ending up with the winning line.

Character. Leadership. Intangibles.

That whole gang of f***nuggets think they are equal parts Glen Sather and Wayne the Red-Nosed Drunk F*** and can replicate their (stacked) team's success. They need to shut up and eat shit.

Probably another reinforcement for Oilers fans that Lowe likely isn’t leaving his position there unless it’s in a box or Katz somehow losses ownership.

Here ya go

"And lastly I'll say, there's one other guy - I believe - in hockey today, that's still working in the game, that has won more Stanley Cups than me. So I think I know a little bit about winning, if there's ever a concern."

Also, just want to point out how funny it is that they blame their success in the 80's for their current terrible teams (before this video and up until now).

The part you're talking about is at 1:47 in the video above. You had it pretty close.

Roadkill. The HoF needs more Alberta beef.

Wilson is one of those cases where I wouldn't, but I also don't mind it.

Elias has a better case than every NHL Skater from the last 20 years left. With the exception of the Soviets and defensive specialists from 30+ years ago, he'd be my only vote. Brind'amour's candidacy hinges on accumulation and a theoretical Smythe. I'm never voting for that guy. Mogilny's numbers look worse the more you dig into them. So do Kovalchuk's while we're at it.

For whatever reason, the standards applied to Goalies are significantly higher than those for Skaters. He's got no hardware, so I doubt he ever passes the Goalie bar.
Elias is forever underrated. So complete. So clutch. Could play all the forward spots.
Even played in 4 Finals so he has the team success.

Kovy should be in.
Im biased as he's my favorite non-Flyer ever but only Ovi is above him in terms of goalscoring the past 25 years.

Main boards trade offer:

Konecny, Voracek, Frost/Farabee/Patrick, 2020 1st for Eichel

who needs wingers anyway?

Its possible that
Konecny
Jake
One of Frost/Farabee/Patrick

Each COULD have similar production as eichel. BUT, you are likely going to move Jake anyway. That first will hopefully be low. And the more likely target for the kids is 50-60 pts. We have several players still coming and would still have 2/3 kids in the deal option. Eichel is an amazing player but I think it’s the salary that makes it a no for me. I’m not as strongly against it.

I think Eichel can and will be a 100 point player. Question is, would you rather have one 100 point player or two 70 point players + Frost/Farabee/Patrick + 1st?
I would offer a lot to get Eichel, but I'm not trading half our top 6 for him.
