Joseph doesn't belong in the Hall, either. His picture is coincidentally beside the 'mediocre' and 'overrated' definitions in the dictionary.

He'll probably get in next year, though. *barf*

Wilson is one of those cases where I wouldn't, but I also don't mind it.

Elias has a better case than every NHL Skater from the last 20 years left. With the exception of the Soviets and defensive specialists from 30+ years ago, he'd be my only vote. Brind'amour's candidacy hinges on accumulation and a theoretical Smythe. I'm never voting for that guy. Mogilny's numbers look worse the more you dig into them. So do Kovalchuk's while we're at it.

For whatever reason, the standards applied to Goalies are significantly higher than those for Skaters. He's got no hardware, so I doubt he ever passes the Goalie bar.
Brind’Amour also was Selke x2 and could have easily won a Selke in Philadelphia, but for some reason was overlooked even then. He’s one of the best full ice players of his generation (mid 90s to just after 1st lockout).

Not sure why you need to focus on theoretical trophies.

To be clear, trophies aren't my personal focus. They're often brought up, so I find them worth mentioning. I absolutely should have mentioned the Selkes though.

Two-way or full ice isn't an angle of approach I will ever take chiefly because it doesn't really have any specificity to it. Whether you were solid on both ends doesn't tell me how good you were, it tells me you had less major weaknesses. That's great, but it's descriptive of type of play rather than quality.

Step one for me is was he ever among the best players in the world? I don't see any real argument that he was. How many years was he even a top 10ish Center? Now it's impressive as hell that he was good to very good for almost all of 1500 Games, but that's a profile that doesn't fit my personal Hall. If you value longevity more than I do, I understand saying you would vote for him.

Fair enough, but I think we’re just going to disagree here.

In his time in Philly, there were many nights where he was the best player on the ice due to his insane work ethic. I also think longevity with the rugged defensive game he played should be celebrated. Now, if you’re someone who feels that waaaay too many people are getting in, then I see why you’d leave him out. I just see some of the others that have made it in, and I’m not sure how their game was more valuable than Brind’Amour’s. Also, it’s not as if his point totals, while being tasked major defensive and PK duties, were meager.

I did watch his entire career in real time, so I have some baked-in biases too. It's only fair to mention that. I never once thought I was watching a HOFer.

If you want to play the "But X got in" game, hell yes he's a significantly better candidate than Lowe or Gillies or Duff or Nieuwendyk. Those guys have zero case whatsoever.

Craig Button: Kevin Lowe's 6 Stanley Cups speak volumes about his success.

F*** you.

I have never been so disgusted with a HHoF inductee.

Your spite for that piece of shit is absolutely glorious. Great post.

Worst inductee since Bernie Federko. Nobody ****ing @ me - I watched that **** hundreds and hundreds of times. Trust me.

Main boards trade offer:

Konecny, Voracek, Frost/Farabee/Patrick, 2020 1st for Eichel

Eichel’s the best player amongst all those but there’s no individual in the NHL more valuable than that collection of players especially in the salary cap era.

Eichel by himself wasn’t greater than the contributions of Konecny, Voracek, & Frost/Farabee just this past year in a career year.

You just traded a decent chunk of your current roster & going forward for one player. You’re only freeing up about $4-5M or so in cap in that move too.

Unless Eichel really forced the issue he’s not getting traded out of Buffalo any time soon. They’re not going to get the offers required to be willing to move him. The system essentially makes him untradeable.

actually only trading 2 pieces off your roster if frost is in the deal. Now ig et that frost will someday be better then Eichel so its a non starter.

The good news is my chances of getting into the HHoF increased today. I’ll prepare my speech.

I mean, the chairman of the HHoF induction committee was a borderline induction whose mustache and Al MacInnis going HAM got him in... as a first ballot guy.

What can we expect...

(McDonald at least had a fair claim though)
